West Brom back with revised bid for Watford man, should Berahino leave

Published:

Right now Saido Berahino is at the centre of perhaps the most vicious transfer circle we’ve seen in recent years. A Stoke City move for Wilfried Bony means his chances of joining the Potters this summer are looking all the more slim.

This, in turn, means there’s a chance he could be at the Hawthorns for at least another five months. And this is the only thing preventing West Brom from making a move for Watford striker Odion Ighalo.

It’s currently 11/4 for Ighalo to sign for Albion, while you can get odds of 5/4 for Berahino to finally seal a move to Stoke.

The Baggies have already shown interest in the Nigerian striker since the transfer window opened, but Tony Pulis has been waiting for the sale of Berahino to free up the funds to make a move for the Hornets’ most influential player last season.

It’s been a quiet few weeks in the Black Country as Pulis went the majority of the transfer window having made just one signing – that being Matt Phillips back in July – but the Baggies boss added Tottenham Hotspur man Nacer Chadli to his squad yesterday in a move which is likely to excite fans.

And should reported moves for Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho and 27-year-old Ighalo materialise into formal bids – the mood around the West Midlands will surely be lifted, following a mediocre start to the 2016-17 campaign.
