If in recent weeks it has seemed that the only news surrounding Arsenal has been negative, Gunners fans can look forward to the imminent return of two of their main attacking threats.
Francesc Fabregas and Nicklas Bendtner have provided Arsene Wenger with some good news ahead of Arsenal’s home game with Birmingham on October 16th.
Fabregas has declared himself fit and after ruling himself out of the Spanish squad for their ties with Lithuania and Scotland, Spain are 1/16 to beat Lithuania on Friday, Fabregas can look forward to nine days of recuperation and preparation.
Bendtner hasn’t featured for Arsenal since injuring his groin in the World Cup finals but is back training with the first team and is pushing for a spot in the eleven to face Birmingham.
“I have no pain in the groin and have trained so hard physically that maybe I am in my best shape ever,” said the Dane.
Despite Bendtner and Robin Van Persie being injured, Arsenal have scored 16 goals in seven Premier League games without their two main strikers and Bendtner may struggle to regain his place in the side.
But Arsenal are on a run of two defeats and the return of Fabregas will be a huge boost to their title ambitions – they are 11/1 to win the Premier League.
After missing so many first team players, Wenger could have many of them back before the start of November but Thomas Vermaelen is recovering slowly from an Achilles problem.
Theo Walcott and Kieron Gibbs are close to a return, Manuel Almunia is vying for a start against Birmingham and Van Persie is expected to be back for Arsenal’s Premier League tie with Newcastle on November 7th.
Aaron Ramsey could return from his horrific broken leg injury by Christmas. See the full Barclays Premier League betting odds market here.
