If Luka Modric does make the move across London to sign for Chelsea, Harry Redknapp is lining up a ready replacement.
However, chances are the move could be scuppered by neighbours and rivals, Arsenal.
Reportedly Spurs will look to sign Shaktar Donetsk playmaker Willian if they lose the services of Modric, but with the Ukrainian side set to sell prized asset Jadson to Arsenal for £12m, Spurs could lose out.
Jadson’s Brazilian teammate Willian was also thought to be interesting Arsene Wenger and is believed to be available for £15million.
However, considering the loss of Jadson, Shaktar could well change their stance on a player who scored 2 goals in 10 Champions League appearances last season.
Redknapp has his sights set on reclaiming forth spot and is determined to hold onto Modric, but with Chelsea continuing to press for the service of the Croatian, the Spurs boss knows he needs to have a back-up plan.
In his quest to bring Champions League football back to White Hart Lane, Redknapp knows he needs to add quality to his side and has focused his attentions on players with European experience and domestic success under their belts.
Willian fits the bill being part of Shaktar’s title wining side for the past two seasons as well as his experience of playing in the Champions League.
Redknapp has also targeted a goalscorer to solve his sides much publicised striking problems.
The club were linked this week with another Brazilian as Porto striker Hulk may make the move to White Hart Lane in a deal worth a potential £35million.
Hulk was part of the Porto team under new Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas which won a clean sweep of domestic trophies in Portugal and the Europa League.
Redknapp believes that adding proven players with a pedigree of wining trophies is likely to add an extra dimension to his playing staff.
