With the three title favourites so short to rack up the most Premier League points on their travels in 2013/14, there are many factors suggesting punters could prosper greatly from backing either Liverpool at 9/1 or Arsenal at 6/1.

It makes total sense that title-winning sides rack up many of their points on the road, but history tells us that this doesn’t always mean they top that particular chart.

In fact, when Man Utd claimed the title last season, it was actually the first time in six seasons that the crowned champions had compiled the most points away from home, since the Red Devils achieved the same feat in 2006/07.

Now, with David Moyes at the helm and with one away loss on the board already, the 13/5 is looking a little shaky, especially when the Scot has never orchestrated a league win at Stamford Bridge or the Emirates during his 10-year tenure at Everton either.

Chelsea may just be the pick of the favourites, as despite being the shortest at 15/8, having Jose Mourinho back at the helm is a factor worth serious consideration.

In his first full season in charge of the Blues, Mourinho oversaw the title and best away record double, while his follow-up title win in 2005/06 saw Chelsea runners-up in that market.

However, as recently as 2010/11 Arsenal trumped all-comers in points picked up away from home, while they finished just a whisker behind the champions last season.

Arsene Wenger’s side, like Liverpool, are sometimes cramped by opposing teams at their own grounds, while they often find it easier to express themselves on the road, without so much pressure.

Both clubs have already notched away wins this season, while all three of the so-called ‘title contenders’ this year have surrendered points away from home.

Only Man Utd scored more away goals than Liverpool last season too and with themselves and the Gunners having done well in the transfer market, they represent the value here for sure.
