Premier League: Leicester to miss out on Champions League football?
Published:Leicester City’s odds for a top four finish have shown a drastic slide since the turn of the year, according to our traders.
We have released a list of odds between January 1st – July 7th on the Foxes, who flew out of the traps at the start of the 2019-20 Premier League campaign.
On New Year’s Day, Brendan Rodgers’ men were 1/7 to secure a top four spot, a price which had shortened to 1/20 within a day and sat comfortably at 1/8 by the end of January.
February saw Leicester’s odds slashed once again to 1/14, and they were even 1/6 by the end of the month – despite back-to-back defeats against Manchester City and Norwich. A 4-0 pre-lockdown rout over Aston Villa meant their odds were back to 1/7 to finish in the Champions League spots with nine games to go.
But a return to the football has seen the Foxes draw with Watford and Brighton, before losing to Everton and then getting their first win in four months against Crystal Palace – leaving their current price at 5/6.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Leicester now sit at 4/5 to keep hold of their Top Four spot, but with Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United all still to play, it’d take a brave punter to back them right now.”
