Portugal v Israel betting tips: Selecao in Lisbon for final friendly

Portugal are building confidence and momentum ahead of their gruelling European Championship title defence.

Fernando Santos’ side have lost only one of their last 14 fixtures heading into their final warm-up game, with France, Germany and Hungary awaiting them at Euro 2020 in the ‘Group of Death’.

The Selecao have a strong home record and are 3/10 to chalk up another victory over an Israel side ranked 85th in the world, but let’s examine some of the other markets in our Portugal v Israel betting tips.

Match Odds

Portugal boss Santos has strength in depth and an array of options at his disposal.

Skipper Cristiano Ronaldo, Rui Patricio, Pepe and Joao Moutinho offer experience, while Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Diogo Jota and Ruben Dias have all risen to prominence in recent seasons.

Portugal’s home form is exceptional with their only defeat in their last 17 matches coming against world champions and Group F opponents France last November.

Ten of those fixtures were secured with a clean sheet, with Portugal 4/5 to win to nil.

With the likes of Dias and Pepe in defence, Portugal have not conceded a goal before half-time in 10 home matches and are 10/11 to be leading at the break and full-time.

They have scored three or more in six of those 10 fixtures and a home win with over 2.5 goals is 21/20.

In the last three meetings both teams have scored while Israel have won their last two on the road, scoring seven goals against Moldova and Montenegro.

But Portugal on home turf with their impressive defence are likely to keep the visitors at bay and a clean sheet for Santos’ men is 8/13.

Talking Tactics

Ronaldo played the full 90 minutes of Portugal’s uneventful goalless draw in Spain on Friday, suggesting he may be wrapped in cotton wool ahead of next week’s trip to Budapest to face Hungary.

That is a game Portugal must win with Germany and France to follow, which will surely come into Santos’ thinking regarding team selection to face Israel.

Manchester United midfielder Fernandes played half an hour at the Wanda Metropolitano while Joao Cancelo, Dias and Bernardo could be given game-time after their Champions League final exertions with Manchester City.

Israel’s star players Eran Zahavi and Manor Solomon are set to start after scoring in Saturday’s 3-1 win in Montenegro.

Goalscorer Odds

Portugal’s all-time goalscorer Ronaldo, with 103 in 174 games, is likely to start on the bench, meaning a potential opportunity for Andre Silva.

The Eintracht Frankfurt striker is 14/5 to score the opener and 8/15 to net any time.

Liverpool forward Jota has registered in the first half of two of his last three games for his country and is 4/1 to break the deadlock again.
