Newcastle v Manchester City betting tips: Party time for new champions?
Manchester City visit Newcastle having secured their third Premier League title in four years on Tuesday when rivals United lost at home to Leicester with a second-string side.
Defeat to Chelsea last time out saw Pep Guardiola’s men miss out on the chance to clinch the title on home soil but United’s 2-1 defeat got them over the line and they are available at 1/4 to beat the Magpies, who crushed Leicester 4-2 last time out.
At 9/1 they are not expected to cause an upset but it should still be an exciting game, so let’s look at some of the odds in our Newcastle v Manchester City betting tips.
Defeat at home to Chelsea may have knocked City’s confidence but having made nine changes from the side that secured Champions League success over PSG, there is plenty of scope for Guardiola to bring the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez back into the starting line-up.
City are likely to come out all guns blazing at St James’ Park and their odds to win and score over 2.5 goals in the game are 4/5 while Newcastle are 18/1.
As the Magpies showed against the Foxes, they can score against top sides when their best players are fit.

Newcastle raced into a 4-0 lead at the King Power Stadium before the Foxes got a couple of late consolation goals and the Magpies are priced at 13/4 to be the first team to score whereas City are 2/7.
The Tynesiders have taken four points from this fixture in the last two seasons, overcoming Sergio Aguero’s goal after 24 seconds to win 2-1 in January 2019 which they followed with a 2-2 draw 18 months ago.
Newcastle are 6/1 to win, draw no bet, or they can be backed at lower odds of 11/4 in the double chance market.
The goals have been flowing for Steve Bruce’s men lately, scoring 12 in their last six games, five of which involved goals at both ends, but we go evens on both teams to score which has been the case in four of the last six meetings between the teams.
Guardiola’s formation will be dictated by his selection and whether he rotates again. Gabriel Jesus and Aguero both came in against Chelsea and neither scored, with the latter wasting the chance to put City 2-0 ahead when his attempt at a Panenka penalty ended in embarrassment.
Joseph Willock has made a name as a goalscoring substitute but after opening the scoring against Leicester he can expect to retain his place in the starting line-up.
Despite his penalty flop, Aguero is 10/3 favourite to break the deadlock while Raheem Sterling is 4/1 to open the scoring and 7/5 in the anytime market having found the net in three of his last four appearances against the Magpies.
Mahrez has scored three goals in his last two games and he struck in the 5-0 win against Newcastle 10 months ago. The winger is available at the same prices as Sterling.
For Newcastle, Willock has scored in his last four games but is 14/1 to draw first blood and 5/1 just to score, but Wilson has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury,
