Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta could be sent packing in the coming weeks, according to our odds.

After a disastrous night in Europe where the Gunners were knocked-out of the Europa League by Villarreal, we’ve cut odds to just 7/2 on Arteta not being in charge on the opening day of next season.

Arsenal currently sit ninth in the Premier League table and are likely to miss out on European football next term. That’d be the first time the club don’t take part in continental competitions in 25 seasons.

Villarreal, managed by former Gunners boss Unai Emery, will face Manchester United in the Europa League final on Wednesday 26 May in Gdansk, Poland.

Arsenal fans have been vocal about their frustration in the way the club is run and the latest defeat adds more pressure on owner Stan Kroenke.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Arsenal’s season is all-but over after a shocking display in the Europa League, and with the Gunners sitting in ninth in the table, there’s every chance the Spanish boss is sent packing before the start of next season.”
