Mexico v Brazil betting tips and odds

The men’s Olympics football tournament is at the semi-final stage so at least a silver medal is guaranteed for the winner of Tuesday’s clash between Mexico and defending champions Brazil in Kashima.

Brazil are 6/4 second favourites behind Spain to win the gold medal and 21/20 to beat the Mexicans inside 90 minutes.

El Tri have been banging in the goals in Japan so let’s look at the markets and odds in our Mexico v Brazil betting tips.

Match Odds

Mexico crushed South Korea 6-3 to reach the last four and they are priced at 5/2 to beat a Brazilian team that scraped past an Egypt side missing Mo Salah in the quarter-finals courtesy of a 37th-minute goal from Matheus Cunha.

El Tri started the group stage with a 4-1 victory against France and they are now 6/1 to repeat their gold-medal heroics in London nine years ago when they beat Brazil 2-1 in the final.

With goals expected, Brazil are 9/1 to win from behind and Mexico are 14/1 in the same market, while we go 12/1 on both teams to score in both halves which was the case in El Tri’s quarter-final victory.

Both teams to score in the first half is available at 17/5 bearing in mind Brazil have scored in the opening 45 minutes in all but one of their four matches.

In the win markets, Brazil are 29/10 to pull through and concede and it’s 5/1 on Mexico who can be backed at 7/2 to score in both halves or 27/20 to qualify for the final.

With another goal-laden match expected, Mexico are 19/5 to be ahead after 30 minutes and Brazil are 5/2 in the same market.

Looking at correct scores, Brazil are 22/1 to win 3-2, while a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes is priced at 12/1. Over 3.5 goals is 2/1 and a draw and over 1.5 goals is available at 16/5.

Talking Tactics

Brazil have the top scorer of the tournament in Everton striker Richarlison who has bagged five goals and he is expected to lead the line in the usual 4-5-1 formation in which former Barcelona defender Dani Alves captains the side at right-back.

Mexico lost Napoli winger Hirving Lozano to injury in the group stage but they have shone without him and are expected to line up in a 4-3-3 on Tuesday.

Henry Martin and Sebastian Cordova both scored twice against South Korea and the former is set to be the main striker alongside Alexis Vega and Uriel Antuna against Brazil.
