Manchester United v Leeds: Red-hot Rashford ripe to sink managerless Whites

Manchester United v Leeds betting tips and odds

Bitter rivals Manchester United and Leeds clash in the first of two Premier League meetings in the space of five days on Wednesday night.

Leeds go into the match without a manager after Jesse Marsch was sacked on Monday afternoon, one day after a 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest left the club outside the relegation zone on goal difference.

The Red Devils are 4/9 favourites to win and pull level on points with neighbours City, so let’s look at some of the talking points in our Manchester United v Leeds betting tips.

Ten Hag troops hot at home

Manchester United’s form at home is excellent, having won their last 13 matches in all competitions, but they are without star midfielder Casemiro, who was sent off at Crystal Palace on Saturday and starts a three-match ban.

With Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay also absent through injury, the door is open for Marcel Sabitzer to make a first start accompanying Fred in the heart of midfield after an impressive appearance from off the bench against the Eagles.

Leeds, though, are on a poor run of picking up just three points from their last seven games which sparked Marsch’s exit, so it promises to be an interesting game on Wednesday when under-21s boss Michael Skubala, development coach Paco Gallardo and Chris Armas will be in the dug-out.

The Whites have generally started games well, but tend to run out of steam as they did at the City Ground on Sunday and their lack of a proven goalscorer is proving to be a source of frustration for the fans.

Club-record signing Georginio Rutter has yet to start a Premier League match, Patrick Bamford is still working his way back from long-term injury and Rodrigo is out for a couple of months, so the options are looking thin in the striker department.

With that in mind, the hosts to win and under 3.5 match goals at 7/5 is the first of our Manchester United v Leeds betting tips.

That would have paid out in seven of United’s last nine home games across all competitions and they have only once scored more than three goals at Old Trafford this season.

Additionally, Leeds have failed to score in their last two Premier League games, but four of their last five top-flight games have been low-scoring affairs.

Marcus Rashford continues to impress playing on the left for United and he was on the scoresheet again in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

Rashford has scored 11 goals in his last 13 matches in all competitions and he looks worth chancing to find the net again at evens or 3/1 to be the first goalscorer as he has been in two of his last five appearances.

At bigger odds of 11/1, we’re on a #BetBuilder option as the last of our Manchester United v Leeds betting tips.

Rashford to score at evens is the first leg and with a fiery contest expected, we’re on a couple of Leeds players to be shown yellow cards, the first being Luke Ayling who was booked in two of the last three clashes with Manchester United.

The defender has only received one caution this season, but Wednesday could be the night when he doubles that figure dealing with wave after wave of United attacks.

Left-back Max Wober is not shy of putting in a tackle and was cautioned at Nottingham Forest, so in a bigger game and a white-hot atmosphere, the Austrian could also come under scrutiny from referee Simon Hooper.
