The Champions League. A chance to be European football’s elite. Sixteen teams remain in the running, but the latest betting odds suggest the trophy could be staying in England.
Manchester City and Bayern Munich are the favourites to win the Champions League this season in Istanbul following the last-16 first leg ties.
The two teams both head into their deciding second leg clashes with respective leads over Real Madrid and Chelsea, and it’s City who currently head the betting at 13/5.
Bayern Munich are 7/2 having cruised past Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to take a three-goal lead back to Germany.
Reigning European champions Liverpool are 7/2 and are in need of another special Anfield night if they are to retain the trophy.
Jurgen Klopp’s men will have to overturn a one-goal deficit against Atletico Madrid – who are 6/1 shots as things stand.
Will the Reds return to the Ataturk Stadium, the ground they famously beat AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League Final?
Elsewhere, Spurs are 50/1 and seemingly out of the running, with Chelsea joint-rank outsiders alongside Valencia at 250/1 apiece.
Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati said: “Liverpool have plenty of work to do to keep hold of the trophy but as things stand it looks as though it’ll be staying in England with City continuing to head the outright betting.”
