Liverpool have enjoyed some memorable Champions League nights at Anfield. They’re in need of another this evening as they welcome Barcelona to Merseyside looking to overturn a 3-0 first-leg deficit.

Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi did the damage at Camp Nou last week to put Barca within touching distance of a first European final since 2015. An away goal should seal the deal in the North West.

Will the Catalan club see the job through? Or can the Reds replicate Roma’s heroics against Barca 12 months ago and spring an almighty shock? We’ve previewed the match in our Champions League Betting Tips. M

Match Odds

Liverpool don’t just need to win. They need to win convincingly. The Reds require three goals without reply just to take it to extra-time, while a 4-0 win would be enough to send them through. We go 28/1 about the former.

Alternatively, the hosts are 31/20 to succeed inside 90 minutes, while it’s a lengthy 9/1 they qualify from the tie. Barcelona are 8/5 on the night and heavily odds-on at 1/25 to make it to Madrid. The Draw is 5/2.

Talking Tactics

Jurgen Klopp has a serious selection dilemma ahead of one of Liverpool’s biggest games of the season with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah both unavailable. Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri could come in.

Youngster Rhian Brewster looks set to feature off the bench, while Jordan Henderson is expected to line-up in a three-man midfield. Trent Alexander-Arnold will also return after missing out last week.

Barca fielded a second string side in defeat to Celta Vigo at the weekend. All of their big name players will return here, including ex-Reds pair Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho.

In fact Ernesto Valverde could name the same XI that beat Liverpool 3-0 at Camp Nou last week. That would mean another start for Sergi Roberto, who will be targeted by full-back Andrew Robertson.

Goalscorer Odds

No Salah or Firmino means the onus will fall on Sadio Mane to score Liverpool’s goals. The Senegalese star is in tip-top form and is 5/6 Anytime or 4/1 to Score 2 or More.

Origi scored a crucial goal against Newcastle at the weekend and is 11/5 to get on the scoresheet here. Shaqiri is a 12/5 chance, with Virgil van Dijk at 9/1 to continue his recent hot streak in front of goal.

Messi did what Messi does in the first-leg. He’s 16/5 to Score First and effectively kill off the tie, while there’s 5/1 about the Argentine ace netting another brace against the Reds.

Suarez and Coutinho are 7/5 and 7/2 to score on their respective returns to Anfield, while midfield dynamo Ivan Rakitic is a 15/2 chance to net his fifth goal of the season.
