Owls out to rain on Huddersfield’s League One promotion push

Goals are liable to be in short supply as Sheffield Wednesday host Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield in a game that could result in major changes in the League One standings.

Brighton have moved eight points clear at the head of the table, but below them just three points separate second-placed Huddersfield from Bristol Rovers in 12th spot.

Sheffield Wednesday are one of the numerous teams placed within this clutch of promotion contenders and will fancy their chances of beating Huddersfield.

However, the Owls have managed just five goals in their seven League One games at Hillsborough so far, while there have only been two goals in their last three fixtures with Huddersfield.

Huddersfield are 15/8 to beat Sheffield Wednesday and take advantage of this lack of goals, while the home side are 7/5 to take the three points.

Another derby is also taking place in League One at Rochdale, where Oldham make the short visit to Spotlands for the first league clash between the two for 27 years.

Rochdale are 11/8 to beat Oldham and halt a slide which has seen them lose four of their last five league games.

Oldham are 15/8 to pick up the win and potentially move into the play-off places in League One.

Dagenham and Redbridge, like Rochdale, were promoted from League Two last season, but are finding life at this higher level slightly tougher.

The Daggers are second from bottom and four points from safety and life does not get any easier as they travel to in-form Southampton next.

After a poor start, Southampton have climbed the table under new boss Nigel Adkins, which has led to them being installed at 4/11 to beat Dagenham and Redbridge.

The visitors are 8/1 to collect a first away win of the season at the eighth attempt. See the full Southampton vs Dagenham and Redbridge match betting odds market.
