Brighton’s lead at the top of League One cut to just two points

Birkinhead-born Scott Wootton made a dream debut from Tranmere when notching a late-equaliser to earn his side a point against League One leaders Brighton.

The 19-year-old on loan from Manchester United has joined a team fourth from bottom in League One and the centre-back will be hopeful of picking up a few more points over his month long spell.

Brighton have seen their lead at the top cut to just two points and they are 9/2 joint second favourites with Peterborough to win League Two.

Peterborough enhanced their title credentials with a win over fourth placed Carisle which sent them second in the league.

Craig Mackail-Smith’s winner puts him joint top of the scoring charts on six goals with strike partner Aaron McClean and the two are both 8/1 to be the League One top goalscorer.

Rickie Lambert got two goals in Southampton’s game with Bournemouth and he is the 4/1 favourite to win the League One golden boot.

Despite just taking 12 points from their first ten games, Southampton are the 4/1 favourites to win League One and their 2-0 victory over Bournemouth could be the game that transforms their season.

Southampton have a home game against Tranmere on Saturday and they are 2/5 to win that match which and continue their strong run of form.

Brentford moved off the bottom of the League One table after a 2-1 victory over London rivals Charlton which leaves them level on nine points with Leyton Orient.
