Germany will look to build on their win against defending champions Portugal by securing their place in the last 16 of Euro 2020 with victory over Hungary who can still reach the knockout stage.

Joachim Low’s side bounced back from an opening Group F defeat to world champions France with an entertaining 4-2 success against Portugal to put their round-of-16 hopes back into their own hands.

Die Mannschaft are 1/5 favourites to record successive wins which will guarantee them a top-two finish in the ‘Group of Death’, as we look at some of the markets in our Germany v Hungary betting tips.

Match Odds

Germany gave themselves a huge shot in the arm with the comeback victory over Portugal to get on the board in a difficult group.

Hungary, the minnows of the group, are 12/1 to stun Germany in Munich, having played their opening two matches in front of full-capacity crowds in Budapest.

They held Portugal until the 84th minute before conceding three late goals and earned their first point against favourites France with a 1-1 draw, which can be backed at 6/1 for another stalemate.

Hungary took the lead in the first half against Les Bleus and have not trailed at the break in any of their last nine matches, with Marco Rossi’s side priced at 6/5 to not be losing at half-time.

Germany have averaged 2.60 goals in their last 10 home international matches, but have only kept three clean sheets in their previous 16 games.

It is 21/20 for both teams to score and it is 7/4 if you add a home victory on top of that, while Hungary to win with both sides netting is a huge 28/1.

Over 2.5 Germany match goals is 3/4, while an interesting selection in the #GetAPrice market is over 3.5 goals in the match, Germany to win and both teams to score at 11/4.

Talking Tactics

Low has deployed a 3-4-3  during the European Championship, a system he had not used since 2018 but reverted to that formation after struggling in the build-up to the tournament.

He has brought defender Mats Hummels and forward Thomas Muller back into the international fold, with the latter drifting in from the right-wing position.

This allows wing-backs Robin Gosens, who scored against Portugal, and Joshua Kimmich to push high up the pitch to deliver crosses for the three forwards.

Rossi’s preferred formation for Hungary is 3-5-2 with target man Adam Szalai leading the line with Roland Sallai, who drifts to the left wing in order to gain possession.

Goalscorer Odds

Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry has been the focal point for Germany and is the 16/5 joint-favourite to open the scoring and 23/20 at any time alongside Chelsea striker Timo Werner.

Kai Havertz and Gosens scored Die Mannschaft’s last two goals against Portugal and are priced at 5/1 and 17/2 to break the deadlock respectively, while they are 15/8 and 16/5 in the anytime goalscorer market.

Szalai leads the Hungarian goalscorer markets – 12/1 to net first and 9/2 during the match – alongside Nemanja Nikolic at the same price.

Attila Fiola has scored Hungary’s only goal of the tournament and the wing-back can be backed at 50/1 to grab the first or last strike of the contest or 22/1 to find the net at any time.
