Didier Deschamps, Euro 2020, France v Switzerland betting tips

France are still on track to add a European Championship to their World Cup crown as we take a look at some France v Switzerland betting tips.

Having emerged from the ‘group of death’, Les Bleus meet Switzerland in Bucharest for a place in the quarter-finals and remain the 4/1 favourites in the Euro 2020 winner odds.

Vladimir Petkovic’s side squeezed through as a best third-placed team.

Match Odds

After beating Germany 1-0 in the Group F opener, France fought back to hold Hungary and then played out a thrilling 2-2 draw with Portugal as they secured top spot.

Switzerland took four points from three games, drawing with Wales, losing to Italy and then hammering Turkey, but have exited their last three major tournaments at the last-16 stage.

Didier Deschamps’ team are favourites for the tournament at 4/1 and have lost only one of their last 23 matches.

Fourteen of those games have seen them go into the interval leading with France half-time and full-time 7/5.

The Swiss and France have played out four draws in their last five meetings, with the last goalless in a dead rubber final group game at Euro 2016.

Although France have conceded in their last two outings after five consecutive clean sheets, a win to nil is 6/5 and under 2.5 goals can be backed at 4/6.

Talking Tactics

Aside from the 5-2 victory at the 2014 World Cup, France have found it hard to break Switzerland down with three goalless draws in their last five games dating back to 2005.

The 2018 world champions failed to see off Hungary, ranked 24 places below Switzerland at 37th in the world, and they may have to rely on a moment of brilliance from one of their attacking stars.

Switzerland are likely to set up defensive and look to catch France on the break, so a tight game is expected.

France have secured three 1-0 wins in their last 10 outings and the same scoreline on Monday is 21/5.

Goalscorer Odds

Karim Benzema finally found the net again in international football, scoring either side of half-time to put France 2-1 ahead against Portugal.

The Real Madrid striker converted a penalty and then produced a superb low finish, making him 7/2 to break the deadlock against Switzerland.

Kylian Mbappe has yet to score in this tournament yet, firing blanks against Germany, Hungary and Portugal, so is 13/8 to end his drought.

Antonio Griezmann has scored seven goals at European Championships and France are unbeaten in all 34 games when he has netted, with odds of 4/1 for the forward to net the opener.

Xherdan Shaqiri struck twice against Turkey and is 6/1 to score at any time while Benfica striker Haris Seferovic, who opened the scoring in that game, is 9/1 to break the deadlock again.
