Football: Five matches to consider for your Saturday acca

Dean Smith Villa

Our attentions turn back to club football following the international break, and we’ve got five games from the Premier League, Championship and more worth considering for your Saturday accumulator.

We’ve cast an eye over a bumper fixture line-up and picked out some games to potentially bolster your betslip.

As matchday approaches, here are our Saturday selections…

Aston Villa v Brighton (Sat, 15:00)

The international break came at the wrong time for Aston Villa following an impressive win at Arsenal, but we expect them to add another three points at home against a struggling Brighton.

Dean Smith’s side have been one of the most eye-catching performers this season with five wins from their seven matches. Villa are 6/5 to win the match.

The Seagulls have only one win from their eight games so far and we think they will be waiting a little longer as they search for their first win since September.

Bristol City v Derby County (Sat, 15:00)

The Rams are at the foot of the Championship table, but can a new-look management team of Wayne Rooney and Liam Rosenior stop the rot in their first game in temporary charge?

City have lost just one of their last eight league games against Derby. Meanwhile, the visitors have won just one of their eleven Championship games this season, losing each of the last two without scoring.

High-flying Bristol City will look to spoil the occasion and if results go their way, they could finish the weekend top of the table. Our traders have them at 5/4 favourites to beat Derby.

Hibernian v Celtic (Sat, 15:00)

The Scottish champions travel to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership hoping to win their sixth away match of the season and maintain their unbeaten streak away from home.

Hibs have lacked consistency of late with two wins, two defeats and a draw in their last five matches. Our traders fancy their patchy run of form to continue with Celtic 1/2 to win.

The Hoops’ last defeat on the road was a 2-0 loss at Livingston in October 2019 and with Neil Lennon’s side almost back at full strength we think they could close the gap to Rangers at the top.

Villarreal v Real Madrid (Sat, 15:15)

We head to La Liga for our next pick in what looks like a tasty encounter at La Ceramica. Villarreal have made a cracking start to the season and have their eyes on a top four spot under Unai Emery.

Real Madrid have drawn their last three away games at Villarreal in the league and another tight encounter could be on the horizon.

Villarreal have won one of their last ten La Liga matches at home against Real Madrid. Despite only losing once this season, we think both sides could settle for a point with a draw 13/5.

Manchester United v West Brom (Sat, 20:00)

We conclude our selections with the final match of the day in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

United are still searching for their first home win of the season, but they face a West Brom side sitting in the relegation zone without a win home or away.

On paper, Saturday’s match looks like one of the kindest fixtures possible to end such a torrid run at home. United are 1/3 to win the match with Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in-line to return after knocks.
