Football: Five matches to consider for your Saturday acca

Brighton & Hove Albion odds

It’s that time of the week where we start to look ahead to the weekend football and make those all-important picks for our Saturday accumulator.

We’ve got Premier League, FA Cup and Football League clashes to look forward to, but will they be one of our five betslip picks? Here are our Saturday selections…

Brighton v Liverpool (Sat, 12:30)

We kick-off our accumulator nice and early as the Premier League champions head to the Amex Stadium with intentions of going top of the table.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are unbeaten in their last five league matches but will arrive on the south coast looking for a response after defeat in midweek to Atalanta in the Champions League.

The Reds impressed against Leicester City last weekend and they could prove too much for a Brighton side with just two wins from their first nine matches.

Liverpool have won each of their last nine meetings with The Seagulls in all competitions and we think that run could continue. Liverpool are 8/13 to win the match.

Manchester City v Burnley (Sat, 15:00)

In the pick of the Saturday afternoon ties, Manchester City host Burnley at the Etihad Stadium with Pep Guardiola’s side looking to rectify their stuttering start to the Premier League campaign.

At home, City have won their last six meetings with Burnley by an aggregate score of 24-2, winning each of the last three by a 5-0 scoreline.

Burnley, on the other hand, beat Crystal Palace 1-0 in the English Premier League on Monday to register their first league win of the season.

City are the clear favourites heading into this one, however, and we expect the Citizens to clinch all three points on home soil. Manchester City to win is 2/13.

Norwich City v Coventry City (Sat, 15:00)

The Canneries go into this one top of the Championship table and will look to retain their advantage against a Coventry side with only three wins from thirteen matches.

Norwich are in fine form and have not lost in their last nine games – the current longest unbeaten run in the league.

Daniel Farke’s side have already bagged maximum points against fellow promotion rivals Stoke, Middlesbrough and Swansea City in recent weeks and we think they’ll continue their impressive form with a victory at Carrow Road. Norwich are 3/5 to win.

Bolton Wanderers v Southend United (Sat, 15:00)

We head to League Two for our next pick as Bolton Wanderers host a Southend side rock bottom of the table.

The Trotters have won their last three games and conceded just one goal in the process against Salford City, Stevenage and Scunthorpe. Bolton are 4/7 to win and make it four wins in a row.

It’s been a miserable season so far for The Shrimpers, they are the lowest scorers in the division and we think their woes may continue this weekend at Bolton.

Valencia v Atletico Madrid (Sat, 15:15)

Atletico Madrid have been in fine form in La Liga and they head to the Mestalla looking to bag their sixth league win in succession.

Diego Simeone’s men look like formidable opposition and have only conceded two goals in their eight league matches so far. Atletico Madrid to are 3/4 to win away from home.

Valencia sit in midtable after an indifferent start to the season which has seen Los Che record only one win from their last six matches, albeit an impressive 4-1 victory over Real Madrid earlier this month.
