The first round of the FA Cup is almost upon us, and year on year, we always spend the days leading up to the games, searching for those all too common upsets.

And while finding those banana skins is no mean feat, here at Ladbrokes News we have put together a trio of ties that could spell trouble for some higher ranked visitors.

Gosport Borough to beat Colchester United @ 5/1

Borough netted 10 goals without reply in their last two home FA Cup qualifying ties for this competition against Larkhall Athletic and Maidenhead United and have only lost two games in their last 24 competitive games, so come into their maiden First Round tie in flying form.

In Justin Bennett and Matt Paterson they have a potent strike force, with the pair netting 27 goals between them so far this season and will certainly give their League One visitors something to think about at Privett Park.

The U’s sit just three points off the bottom of the division, and without a win in their last three will be all too aware of a potential upset here.

Barnet to beat Wycombe Wanderers @ 17/10

Both these sides are having seasons to remember, with the pair top of their respective leagues and eyeing up promotion to the next tier of English football.

But while their positions may read the same, the Bees are well clear, nine points ahead of their nearest challengers, while the Chairboys hold a much more precarious position, just a solitary point ahead of Luton in second.

With home advantage, Barnet could sniff a mini shock here. They have scored 16 goals in their last five at The Hive, and will fancy their chances to net a few goals against a Wycombe side that have kept just one clean sheet in eight.

Dover Athletic to beat Morecambe @ 15/8

The news that first-choice keeper Barry Roche has been ruled out for the rest of the season will have come as a big blow to Morecambe.

His omission from the last few matches may go some way to explaining how they have lost seven of their last 10 games in all competitions, as they scoured the loan market for a suitable replacement.

Opponents Dover may be languishing in 20th in the Conference, but have clearly turned a corner of late, winning their last four at home without conceding a goal.

And with the Shrimps having to endure a near-700 mile round trip for this fixture, Athletic could net themselves an FA Cup Second Round berth.
