Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is under no illusions about the size of the task facing his side against Arsenal in their FA Cup third round replay – but is convinced they can give the Gunners a game.
Leeds were minutes away from knocking Arsene Wenger’s side out of the competition at the Emirates in the first game, but a last minute penalty from Cesc Fabregas kept the Gunners’ hopes alive.
Arsenal are big favourites in the FA Cup betting at 8/13 to win through, but with Leeds being undefeated in seven games at Elland Road, Grayson expects his side to work the Premier League’s third place team.
He said: “Now we can think about Arsenal and it will be a fantastic night for the players and the supporters.
“We’re going to have to work ever so hard. We’re underdogs against a top team, but it’s a great opportunity and we’re looking forward to it.”
Arsenal could welcome back Aaron Ramsey to the side for the first time since he broke his leg against Stoke last season, while Wojciech Szczesny looks set to continue in goal with Lukasz Fabianski still sidelined with a shoulder problem.
There is little in the way of good news for Leeds, who could be missing top scorer Luciano Becchio who suffered a back injury in their 4-0 win over Scunthorpe at the weekend.
With Becchio set to miss out, Leeds will be forced to try and keep it even tighter than they were planning to. The Gunners should learn from their mistake in losing away to Ipswich in the League Cup, but Leeds will make it hard.
Arsenal have gone out of the FA Cup away to Stoke, Bolton and Blackburn in recent years so back a tight game with under 2.5 goals at 11/10.
