After winning the title by a mammoth 13 points last season, Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to dominate Ligue 1 once again this season.
The fixtures for the year ahead have been released, with the reigning champions kicking off the defence of their title at home to Caen on Sunday 12th August.
It’s a pretty generous opening for Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and co, who then face relative minnows Guingamp, Angers and Nimes in the opening four weeks.
PSG’s first real test may come at the end of September, when they’re scheduled to visit Nice. It starts a six-week run which promises to really test Thomas Tuchel’s side.
They host Lyon in early October, before the first Le Classique of the season at Marseille’s Velodrome stadium on the weekend of 27th October.
That’s followed two weeks later by a trip to the Riviera and Monaco.
Last season’s runners-up Monaco will start their campaign away at Nantes, before taking on Lille and Bordeaux to conclude the opening month.
They face a big test at the start of September when they host Marseille. PSG visit on the weekend of 10th November, with the return trip to the capital scheduled for the 20th April.
Will this be Marseille’s year? They haven’t won the title since 2010, but are a club on the up after finishing fourth last term.
They begin at home to Toulouse on Friday 10th August, before visiting Nimes and then hosting Rennes.
That clash with Monaco looms on the 1st of September, with a trip to Lyon also scheduled for the second month of the season.
The first Le Classique of the campaign in the Autumn comes between tricky trips to Nice and Montpellier, while Marseille’s trip to PSG is booked in for the weekend of the 16th March.
And what of Lyon? The seven-time champions have been out of the fold lately but were third last term.
Olympique open by hosting Amiens before heading to Reims. Their first big game is on 22nd September when Marseille make the trip north, while Lyon go to PSG on the 6th October.
