Hoffenheim vs Schalke – Hoffe struggle under Friday night lights

1899 Hoffenheim sit atop the Bundesliga two games into the season, but will have to overcome their poor record in Friday night games to remain there come Sunday.

In stark contrast, last season’s runners-up, Schalke 04, are yet to pick up a point, and they will be hoping that new arrival Klass-Jan Huntelaar can continue his golden run after netting five times in two games for Holland during the international break.

Wednesday saw Huntelaar presented to the Schalke fans and he said, “It has been an excellent week and I hope I can continue this on Friday when Schalke visit Hoffenheim.”

Huntelaar will hope he can quickly form a partnership with Schalke’s other summer signing and former Real Madrid teammate Raul, a combination which could potentially be lethal in the Bundesliga.

“We fit well together,” Huntelaar said, “success will now come to Schalke and that is why I am here.”

Hoffenheim have not kept a clean sheet in 13 Bundesliga matches and will be weary of Huntelaar’s confidence as they look to justify their 7/5 favouritism.

Schalke are 9/5 to win in the Rhein-Neckar-Arena but the last two meetings that these two have contested in Hoffenheim have ended in a draw, available at 12/5.

Hoffenheim fans will be hoping that the club can continue the impressive start their side have made to the season after only winning promotion to the Bundesliga in 2008.

Their impressive start to the season has seen them cut into 25/1 for the Bundesliga title whereas Schalke can be backed at 9/1 to win the league title.

Bayern Munich are the clear 1/2 favourites to win the Bundesliga. See the full Hoffenheim vs Schalke match betting market here.
