European football tips: Champions League spots up for grabs in Italy
The European seasons conclude this weekend with the title races in France and Spain having gone to the wire while the top four is still not settled in Italy.
Lille, one point clear of defending champions PSG at the top of the table, can win Ligue 1 for the fourth time in their history and the first in 10 years with victory at Angers which is priced at 8/11.
But the main talking point is whether La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid can pip Real Madrid to the title on Saturday having battled back to beat Osasuna with two goals in the final 10 minutes last weekend.
In Serie A, Atalanta have taken the second Champions League spot but Napoli, AC Milan and Juventus will fight it out for the remaining two places on Sunday evening.
Valladolid v Atletico Madrid (Sat, 17:00)
A win will ensure Atletico’s first championship in seven years but they are up against a team two points adrift of safety so only a victory will give them a chance of staying up.
Valladolid have lost their last three games by at least two goals and Atletico beat them 2-0 at the start of December.
Diego Simeone’s side to win by at least two goals is 19/20 or a win to nil is 6/5 bearing in mind Valladolid have not scored against Atletico in their last four meetings.
Real Madrid v Villarreal (Sat, 17:00)
Real Madrid are 3/1 to retain their title but only a win will do against Villarreal, who can still qualify for the Europa League.
Zinedine Zidane’s side are two points behind Atletico so they would still secure the title should their city rivals draw and Real Madrid win because of their superior head-to-head record.
Four of the last six meetings have been score draws which is priced at 21/5 while Los Blancos are 13/8 to win and concede, the outcome in the last two home meetings between the teams.
Napoli v Verona (Sun, 19:45)
Napoli’s late run of six wins and two draws from eight games has propelled them into third place and victory on Sunday will clinch Champions League football next season.
That said, they lost 3-1 at Verona in January despite Hirving Lozano scoring Napoli’s fastest Serie A goal after just nine seconds.
Verona are 14/1 to win their first game in nine or 11/2 to draw while free-scoring Napoli are 13/10 to pick up the three points they need and concede which has occurred in three of their last six outings.
Atalanta v AC Milan (Sun, 19:45)
AC Milan occupy the final Champions League spot but they have the toughest task of all with their trip to Atalanta, who have already qualified.

Atalanta are unbeaten in 11 but will Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have the stomach for the fight bearing in mind a win will allow Juventus to slip through the back door?
Gasperini’s men are 6/4 to make it four successive wins while the visitors are similarly priced at 31/20, with the draw 27/10.
Bologna v Juventus (Sun, 19:45)
The last of our European football tips involves Juve, who are in danger of missing out on the Champions League for the first time in 11 years despite scoring a dramatic late penalty to beat Inter Milan last weekend.
The Old Lady must beat Bologna and hope either Napoli or AC Milan drop points otherwise the Europa League beckons next season.
Juve have won the last nine Serie A meetings with Bologna, six of which were by at least two goals, so we go 7/10 on that outcome or 11/8 to win to nil which has been the case in their last two encounters.
