Europa League final betting tips: United favourites to sink Yellow Submarine

Edinson Cavani, Wolves v Manchester United betting tips

Manchester United hope to lift the Europa League trophy for the second time in five years tonight.

The Red Devils take on Villarreal, coached by Europa League expert Unai Emery who won the tournament three consecutive times with Sevilla between 2014-16 and got to the final with Arsenal, and the Spaniards start as 18/5 underdogs to win the trophy in Gdansk.

It promises to be a fascinating final so let’s take a look at some of the odds to help with your Europa League final betting tips.

Match Odds

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer kept his powder dry on Sunday by resting all of his senior players for the 2-1 win at Wolves which ensured they became the fourth top-flight team to go through the season unbeaten away from home.

Captain Harry Maguire is almost certain to miss the game with ankle ligament damage but United are still favourites at 4/5 to win the competition again.

The Red Devils have already played Spanish opposition twice this season, dispatching Real Sociedad and Granada 4-0 on aggregate and they are 9/5 to win to nil.

Their opponents were just three minutes away from beating Real Madrid on Sunday but conceded twice in a 2-1 defeat which meant they finished seventh in the table and will play in the inaugural Europa Conference League next season.

The Yellow Submarine failed to beat any of the top three in La Liga and lost their last two games against Barcelona and Real Madrid 2-1, an outcome which can be backed at 7/1.

The Spaniards also topped the both teams to score table in Spain at 66%, with goals at both ends available at 10/11, while either team to win on penalties is 10/1.

Emery’s side were unbeaten throughout their Europa League campaign and can be backed at 12/5 to draw or 9/5 to lift the trophy.

Talking Tactics

With Maguire almost certainly out, Eric Bailly is likely to join Victor Lindelof in the heart of defence, with David de Gea replacing Dean Henderson in goal.

Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood are fighting it out for a place on the right behind Edinson Cavani in attack.

Villarreal’s star striker Gerard Moreno and Carlos Bacca both played on Saturday and should lead the line in a 4-4-2 formation.

Goalscorer Odds

Bruno Fernandes and Cavani are the 7/2 joint favourites to open the scoring, with the Uruguayan bagging two doubles in the 8-5 aggregate win against Roma in the semi-finals and scoring a superb long-range chip in a 1-1 draw against Fulham in the Premier League.

Paul Pogba also scored in the 6-2 win against Roma at Old Trafford, having grabbed the only goal at AC Milan, and the France midfielder is 10/1 to get the ball rolling or 4/1 to net any time.

Moreno has scored six goals in this competition for Villarreal and is 4/1 to break the deadlock and 9/5 to get on the scoresheet.

Bacca bagged a hat-trick against Sevilla recently and he is 15/2 to score the opener and 16/5 to breach United’s defence.
