Euro 2020 top scorer odds: Kane leads Golden Boot field
The European Championship finally gets under way a year later than scheduled despite still being in the midst of the global coroanvirus pandemic.
There will be limited spectators in stadia at the 11 host cities as Euro 2020 takes place across the continent.
Wembley will host the semi-finals and final of the tournament, which has seen England captain Harry Kane become 11/2 favourite to be the competition’s top marksman.
Here, we look at Kane and some of the other players in the Euro 2020 top scorer odds.
The England captain has been in terrific form for club and country since the start of the qualification for this tournament, which he topped with 12 goals in eight games.
The 27-year-old striker carried that form into the 2020-21 Premier League campaign, winning the Golden Boot with 23 goals and the playmaker award after notching 14 assists for Tottenham.
Speculation is swirling around Kane’s future in north London after Spurs could only secure Europa Conference League football and he has since spoken out about his desire to win silverware, which he will hope starts this summer with the Three Lions.
The Belgium striker propelled Inter Milan to their first Serie A title in 11 years thanks to his 24 goals and 11 assists.
Lukaku is 13/2 second favourite in the Euro 2020 top scorer odds and will hope to build on the two goals he netted in the 2016 edition and the Bronze Boot he won at the 2018 World Cup.
The 28-year-old striker certainly knows where the goal is for his country as he is Belgium’s all-time leading scorer with 59, with team-mate Eden Hazard second on the list with a distant 32.
Belgium arguably have an easier group than some of his main rivals and could take advantage in the early stages as the world’s number one ranked team aim to justify their top billing with success.
The forward has been a shining light for Paris St Germain and France in recent years, guiding his country to their 2018 World Cup success with a goal in the final.
Mbappe, who scored 27 league goals and registered seven assists, already has 42 caps despite being just 22 years old and is priced at 8/1 to lead the scoring charts.
France will hope to go one better after falling in the final on home soil five years ago and they certainly have the squad depth to negotiate a difficult Group F featuring Portugal, Germany and Hungary and claim their third European Championship title.
The evergreen Ronaldo may be 36 years old but he remains an integral part of Portugal’s set-up and will be desperate to defend their shock crown from five years ago.
His goalscoring record speaks for itself, scoring over 100 times for Juventus in three seasons – including 27 during the 2020-21 campaign and 103 goals in 173 caps for his country.
Ronaldo is 12/1 to add another accolade to his huge collection and Portugal will have to do it the hard way if they are to have a successful tournament.
Best of the rest
Memphis Depay enjoyed a stellar final season at Lyon with 20 goals and 12 assists as he weighs up his options with his contract expiring next month.
He can put himself in the shop window with strong performances and is 16/1 to top the scoring charts in a Group C in which his country are favourites to come out as winners.
Robert Lewandowski broke a Bundesliga goalscoring record with his 41 goals this season and the Poland striker is 25/1 to add the European Championship Golden Boot to his name.
French duo Karim Benzema, who returns after a six-year international exile, and 2016 Golden Boot winner Antoine Griezmann are 16/1 and 20/1 respectively in the Euro 2020 top scorer odds after strong campaigns in La Liga for Real Madrid and Barcelona.
