Euro 2020 player of the tournament odds: De Bruyne remains in the running
The group stage is done and dusted so it’s time to reassess which of the stars on show are in the running for the best player of the tournament.
The last three winners have all come from the winning nation, so a deep run is essential to land this prestigious award.
Kevin De Bruyne is the 7/1 co-favourite in the Euro 2020 player of the tournament odds so let’s look at his prospects and some of the other leading contenders.
Kevin De Bruyne
De Bruyne was doubtful to compete at the tournament after undergoing an operation to repair a fractured eye socket and nose he sustained in the Champions League final, but he produced an eye-catching display as a half-time substitute in the 2-1 win against Denmark.

Trailing 1-0 at the break after a listless opening 45 minutes, head coach Roberto Martinez gambled on his main man and he did not disappoint, selflessly picking out Thorgan Hazard for the equaliser before rifling home a fierce left-footed shot to send Belgium into the knockout stage.
The Manchester City midfielder was man of the match in a starting role against Finland and more performances like his last two could see him named player of the tournament.
The young French striker is also 7/1 in the Euro 2020 player of the tournament odds despite failing to score, although he has had eight shots, three of which were on target and also had a goal ruled out for offside against Hungary.
His pace caught the eye against Germany when he outsprinted Mats Hummels despite being a few yards behind the defender in a race for the ball although the Dortmund centre-back made a superb last-ditch tackle.
Will need to score some goals if he is to land the award.
One player who has had no problem scoring goals is Belgium striker Lukaku, also in the running for the Golden Boot.
The Inter Milan star bagged a brace against Russia and scored the decisive goal against Finland to send Belgium through as group winners with a perfect record, and he is now 8/1 in the Euro 2020 player of the tournament odds.
The France midfielder was initially 40/1 to win this award but his performance for Chelsea in the Champions League final saw his odds cut to 25/1 which have been further reduced to 9/1.
The former Leicester star is an expert at breaking up attacks, making perfectly-timed tackles and going on lung-busting runs to take the pressure off his defence.
Yet to be awarded man of the match, but it’s surely only a matter of time.
Five goals have put Ronaldo in front in the race for the Golden Boot and he is also 10/1 in the Euro 2020 player of the tournament odds.
Three of his goals have come from the penalty spot and at 36 he should be slowing down, but the run he made for the opening goal against Germany proves that he remains a peak athlete.
Pogba was named man of the match for his display in the 1-0 win against Germany and produced another masterclass in the 2-2 draw with Portugal.
The Manchester United midfielder is 14/1 to be crowned player of the tournament and with France expected to go far he certainly stands a chance.
