Despite the fanfare surrounding Scotland’s solid start to qualifying for Euro 2016 it’s the Republic of Ireland who look in the stronger position after picking up a priceless point on the road against Germany last time out.
The Green Army are 11/5 to win in Glasgow while the hosts can be backed at a 13/10, while those predicting a draw similar to the one played out between Scotland and Poland can get 19/10.
Ahead of kick-off, however, we’ve trawled through the many, many markets available at Ladbrokes to bring you three of the best bets to back.
Fresh from scoring in LA Galaxy’s 5-0 play-off win over Real Salt Lake in the MLS, the 34-year-old will be relishing the chance to add to his tally for Ireland, having scored the winner the last time the Republic played Scotland in a competitive fixture.
Keane is in good form for the Green Army too, having racked up a fine first-half hat-trick against Gibraltar in a recent qualifier and with the veteran forward also on penalty duty for Ireland, he looks the most likely scorer from the visitors and is a good price to net anytime.
The Everton forward was finally able to translate his club form into international success last time out, scoring for Scotland in their fine 2-2 draw away against Poland and we are confident that the 28-year-old can keep the ball rolling against the Republic.
Like Keane, Naismith heads into this contest in something approaching goalscoring form having netted in Everton’s recent 3-0 win over Lille in the Europa League and he looks the most likely to score for the hosts here.
While a draw is unlikely to do either side much in the way of favours, recent form suggests this could be the result to back, with both teams scoring in the process.
Scotland held Poland to a 2-2 draw last time out in Euro 2016 qualifying while Ireland also picked up a 1-1 draw with Germany, but it’s more the fact that both teams are defensively frail which makes this a top tip.
Scotland have shipped goals in three of their last four games, while Ireland failed to keep a clean sheet against Georgia last time out.
