England top goalscorer odds: Kane ahead but Foden attracts interest

England head to the European Championship as joint 9/2 favourites alongside France to win the tournament, but who will be their top goalscorer?

With Wembley hosting the last-four ties and final, the Three Lions will have home advantage if they make it all the way at Euro 2020, where they will also play at the national stadium for each of their three Group D matches.

Captain Harry Kane is 8/11 to be the team’s leading marksman and we look at other players who could contribute for Gareth Southgate men and their England top goalscorer odds.

Harry Kane

The Tottenham star has been in sensational form this season and that stretches even further back on the international stage for the 27-year-old striker.

Kane won the 2018 World Cup Golden Boot with six goals and became the first Englishman to score in every qualifying match for this tournament, scoring 12 times in eight matches.

He produced arguably his best overall campaign of this career this season as he became only the third player in Premier League history to top both the Golden Boot and Playmaker charts.

Kane finished one goal ahead of Mohamed Salah with 23 goals and two assists in front of Bruno Fernandes and Kevin De Bruyne, players he could face at Euro 2020.

Kane is sixth on England’s all-time goalscoring list with 34 goals and he will be desperate to add to that in a bid to taste success this summer.

Raheem Sterling

Sterling struggled to break into Manchester City’s starting line-up during the run-in but the 26-year-old attacker has been a mainstay for Southgate and is 6/1 to be England’s top scorer.

Despite 10 Premier League goals from 31 appearances, Sterling appears to have lost his place at City to England team-mate Phil Foden.

However, Foden has only made six caps in comparison to Sterling’s 61 and Southgate may want to use the Kingston-born winger’s experience during Euro 2020.

Sterling also contributed eight of his 14 England goals during qualification for this competition, which will not go unnoticed, but he will be in a battle to hold on to his starting place for the first game against Croatia on June 13.

Marcus Rashford

The Manchester United forward endured a disappointing end to his season as the Red Devils lost on penalties in the Europa League final to Villarreal.

He showed his goalscoring threat throughout the season as he notched 22 goals in 59 appearances for his club and had been part of Southgate’s squad since he first took over in September 2016.

Despite a battle for his preferred left wing role with Sterling and Foden, Rashford is 8/1 to top the team’s scoring charts at Euro 2020.

His versatility in all three positions in the front line makes him a valuable asset for the squad and one would imagine he would play some part in most games at Euro 2020.

Phil Foden

The City man has had a breakout year during which he has become a focal point for the Premier League champions due to his versatility.

Heralded as David Silva’s successor in Pep Guardiola’s side, Foden has produced starring roles in central midfield, on the wing and as a false number nine this season.

That has seen him score 16 goals in all competitions for his club and now his price has been cut from 12/1 to 9/1 be the Three Lions’ top scorer.

Foden scored his first two England goals in November’s friendly against Iceland and his form this season has also proved that he can perform in the biggest matches.

Harry Maguire

There are injury concerns over the Manchester United defender after he sustained ankle ligament damage in early May, which forced him to be an unused substitute in the Europa League final.

If fit, Maguire will be a threat at set-pieces and despite scoring only three goals this season, he could be an outside shot at 50/1.

Maguire scored his first England goal in the World Cup last 16 against Sweden and added two more in the last two international breaks, all from set-plays.

Everton defender Yerry Mina scored three goals at the 2018 World Cup for Colombia to finish as the joint-third highest scorer of the tournament and could provide inspiration for Maguire.
