Chelsea v Leicester betting tips: Rivals go again in top-four battle

| 17.05.2021

Chelsea host Leicester in a crucial Premier League clash just three days after the Foxes’ FA Cup triumph at Wembley.

The Blues go into the game two points behind third-placed Leicester in the race for Champions League places and are 8/11 to gain revenge for their Wembley disappointment.

The home side, who have lost three of their last seven games at Stamford Bridge, will want to get back to winning ways ahead of the Champions League final against Manchester City so let’s check out the facts and figures to help with your Chelsea v Leicester betting tips.

Match Odds

Chelsea have scored just nine goals in their last 10 games but have only conceded five times during that run, with under 2.5 match goals available at 4/6.

That has been the case in both games between the sides this season, with Leicester winning 2-0 in the Premier League game at the King Power Stadium and Youri Tielemans scoring the only goal of the game at Wembley.

Leicester are 21/5 to make it three wins in a row over Thomas Tuchel’s side, although Brendan Rodgers’ outfit would still be in control of their top-four destiny with a draw, which is available at 5/2.

The Foxes have scored 10 goals in their last six away games and are 2/1 to open the scoring.

Chelsea have scored 32 of their 55 goals in the second half and 39 of Leicester’s 65 goals have come after the break, with the second half 1/1 to have more goals than the first half.

Talking Tactics

Tuchel spoke of his side being “too hectic” in attack at Wembley and could look to make changes to his front three of Hakim Ziyech, Mason Mount and Timo Werner, with Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz pushing for starts.

Jonny Evans’ injury means Rodgers will likely have to rejig his defence, with Daniel Amartey or Ricardo Pereira likely to come in.

Mateo Kovacic could return for Chelsea, who have lost only one of the last 17 games that the Croatia midfielder has featured in, and the Blues are 2/13 to avoid defeat.

Goalscorer Odds

Chelsea’s forwards are collectively struggling for form but Werner appears to be Tuchel’s preferred option and is 4/1 to open the scoring or 7/4 to net at any time.

Kelechi Iheanacho has taken the mantle of Leicester’s main goal threat from Jamie Vardy this season and, with 15 goals in his last 18 games, is 6/1 to score first and 12/5 to strike at any time.

Tielemans has provided nine goals from midfield this season and is 20/1 to repeat his Wembley heroics by scoring first, or 8/1 to score at any time, while Ben Chilwell, who had what would have been a dramatic late equaliser ruled out by VAR at Wembley, is 16/1 to score first against his old club and 6/1 to strike at any time.
