Bournemouth travel to Vicarage Road this weekend looking to avenge last season’s 6-1 rout at the hands of Watford but could fall short again.
Eddie Howe’s men improved greatly after that early season thumping to finish above Watford last year but the fixture comes with the Cherries out of form.
The hosts are the 11/10 favourites – a great price considering the stats – and Bournemouth are billed as the 12/5 underdogs with the draw also available at 12/5.
A repeat of the 6-1 scoreline can be backed at a whopping 300/1, while another hat-trick from Troy Deeney, who netted three in last year’s corresponding tie, can be had at 33/1.
Here, however, are what Ladbrokes News deems the three best bets for the Championship’s early kick-off.
The Hornets are yet to record back-to-back wins in the league this season but will be confident of doing so, having lost just two of their last 16 games as hosts.
Bournemouth – for all their improvement under Howe – have not travelled well of late, taking maximum points on the road just once in six attempts.
The Cherries haven’t beaten Watford since 1997 and with the Hornets winning four of the five games since, it’s a home win to back here.
The 33/1 to on a Deeney hat-trick might tempt but neither of these prices should be scoffed at.
Plenty of Premier League teams attempted to lure Deeney away from Watford this summer but the striker stood firm and has maintained his form with three goals already.
He clearly enjoys playing against Bournemouth and could fill his boots once more.
If the Cherries are to get anything out of the game much will depend on the performance of Callum Wilson.
The surprise package has hit the ground running as Lewis Grabban’s replacement, netting four goals in his first seven games at Championship level.
While the 6/1 is certainly worth a speculative shout the latter price is simply too good to ignore.
