Scotland striker to make Deadline Day move to Nottingham Forest?

Oliver Burke’s £13m departure from Nottingham Forest made the new RB Leipzig man the most expensive Scot in football history – but it seems another highly-prized Scotland man could be heading to the City Ground, in the shape of prolific striker Jordan Rhodes.

The 26-year-old has found himself out of favour since his January move to Middlesbrough, and hasn’t played a single minute of football since the start of this season.

And Forest, who were one of the Championship’s lowest-scoring sides last year with just 43 goals (0.93 goals per game), are believed to have stolen a march in the race to snap up the reliable hitman, who bagged 17 goals last season and chipped in with a handful of assists.

With Forest striker Jamie Paterson having now exited to Bristol City, odds of Rhodes heading to the City Ground have been dramatically slashed from 33/1 to 7/1, and could well continue to tumble as Deadline Day continues.

The former Huddersfield Town man is currently valued at £8.5m by Transfermarkt.co.uk, meaning the East Midlands giants would surely have to smash their previous record transfer fee of £5.89m paid for Britt Assombalonga from Peterborough in 2014.

However, the money freed up from Burke’s exit means Philippe Montanier could well part with the necessary fee to secure a dramatic Deadline Day deal for the Scotland international.

Forest are next in action against Aston Villa, with 7/2 for Montanier’s men to win at Villa Park for the first time since 1994.
