Aston Villa fans could be set to see a familiar face back in their ranks next season, with the latest odds suggesting Gareth Barry could return to his boyhood club.
Barry is 2/1 to rejoin Villa this summer, nine years after leaving the West Midlands to join Manchester City.
Having made a whopping 441 appearances for the Villans between 1998 and 2009, the 37-year-old is a bona-fide legend and many fans will be praying he returns.
Those odds could shorten if his former club are to win promotion back to the Premier League.
Villa are already guaranteed a play-off spot, and it’s 5/2 for Steve Bruce’s men to win promotion this season.
As for Barry’s current employers, West Bromwich Albion, they’re set to drop down to the Championship despite a recent upturn in form.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It’s been a while, but Villa fans might soon be welcoming back one of their own in the shape of Gareth Barry when the summer transfer window opens.”
