Cardiff have been going through a troubled period in the Championship of late and based on their horrid record on Boxing Day, things are unlikely to get any better against Coventry.

One point in four games has seen Cardiff struggle to keep pace with QPR at the head of the Championship, but there are grounds for both optimism and pessimism as they prepare to host Coventry.

On the positive side is that they have beaten Coventry in all of their last five meetings, including a 2-1 success at the Ricoh Arena in October when Jay Bothroyd netted a late winner.

Cardiff’s betting odds are 7/10 that they maintain this impressive record against the Sky Blues.

However, Cardiff have a tendency to suffer from the post-Christmas blues as they have not won on Boxing Day this century, with their last victory coming in 1999 against Reading.

Coventry are 4/1 in the Championship betting odds to beat Cardiff and maintain their position in the play-off places.

Perhaps luckily for Cardiff, QPR also face a tricky Boxing Day game at home to fellow automatic promotion contenders Swansea.

The league leaders have drawn their last two games with Swansea, but it is 1/1 that they claim victory this time.

Swansea are priced at 11/4 to do their fellow Welsh side a favour and beat QPR.

Another match that could have a bearing on who is promoted from the Championship at the end of the season takes place at the Walkers Stadium as Leicester entertain Leeds.

Leicester have made great strides since appointing Sven-Goran Eriksson as manager and they are 6/5 to beat Leeds and end their eight-game unbeaten streak.

Leeds’ form has seen them move into second in the standings and they can be backed at 12/5 to beat Leicester.

A £10 bet on Leicester to beat Leeds 3-1 could lead to a return of £180. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
