Betting suspended on Jordan Rhodes to Sheffield Wednesday

Published:

Sheffield Wednesday fans might just have landed themselves one of the Championship’s top strikers, as we’ve suspended betting on the Owls signing Jordan Rhodes.

The Scotland international has been out of the picture at Middlesbrough, making just six Premier League appearances for Aitor Karanka’s side this season.

And rather than sit on the bench for another six months, the former Blackburn ace looks set to return to the second-tier.

Wednesday had been favourites throughout Deadline Day to land the 26-year-old, but a series of bets have forced our traders to suspend the market.

Rhodes fired in 73 goals in a little over three seasons at Ewood Park, and few strikers have been as prolific as the Oldham-born forward in England’s second division.

The forward won’t be registered in time for Wednesday’s trip to Bristol City tonight,  but the Yorkshire outfit must be confident now of securing at least a play-off position this season.

Wednesday sit sixth in the Championship table ahead of the midweek fixtures, but are the second-lowest scorers in the top-half.

That shouldn’t be a problem now though as Rhodes is on his way.
