Andros Townsend now shortest price he’s been for Newcastle return

Published:

He may not have been gone for long, but the latest reports are suggesting Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend will return to his former club Newcastle United before tonight’s transfer window slams shut.

And our traders are certainly onboard with recent speculation, having made it just a 4/11 shot for a Townsend-Newcastle reunion.

The Magpies were forced to sell the England international back in the summer for a fee of £13m following their relegation from the Premier League.

But they’re riding high in the Championship right now, and a return to the top-flight at the first time of asking is seemingly on the cards.

Meanwhile, Townsend’s current club Palace find themselves in a real fight for survival at the bottom of the Premier League, and it’s thought the club are looking to cash in on the 25-year-old while his value is still high.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has reportedly expressed an interest in re-signing the former Tottenham Hotspur man this window, but it’s likely the club will have to fork out roughly £15m for his services.

And while they spent some £55m on new recruits back in the summer, they’re yet to add anyone to their ranks this month.

Does that mean they’ll get their business done today?

At the current odds, we’re certainly not ruling out a return to Tyneside for Townsend.
