Championship betting tips: Bees outsiders for Wembley date

| 15.05.2021

Bournemouth and Swansea are in the driving seat to reach the Championship play-off final after winning the first legs earlier this week.

The Cherries are now 15/8 favourites to join Norwich and Watford in making immediate returns to the Premier League after Arnaut Danjuma gave them a 1-0 win against Brentford.

Swansea also secured a 1-0 victory but they have home advantage in the second leg against Barnsley, so let’s take a look at both of Saturday’s matches in our Championship betting tips.

Brentford v Bournemouth (Sat, 12:30)

Bournemouth may have the advantage but there was very little between the teams at the Vitality Stadium where Danjuma settled the issue with a counter attack he started and finished 10 minutes into the second half.

Jonathan Woodgate’s men are 29/10 to win in west London, but 1/2 to qualify for the final at Wembley, while the Bees are 19/20 to come out on top.

Brentford won both matches by one-goal margins during the regular season and they are 13/5 to do so again after squandering a great chance to equalise on the south coast on Monday.

Substitute Bryan Mbeumo managed to divert Christian Norgaard’s cross wide with the goal gaping 12 minutes from time but we go 11/5 on the French winger to atone for that miss by scoring.

Dominic Solanke hit the post with a first-half header for Bournemouth and he is 21/10 to get on the scoresheet.

All three meetings between the teams were level at the break and another even 45 minutes is priced at 21/20 while a draw overall is 12/5.

Swansea v Barnsley (Sat, 18:30)

The Swans have the advantage thanks to Andre Ayew’s sweet left-footed finish in the 39th minute but they were grateful to keeper Freddie Woodman, who made a superb double save to deny Carlton Morris and Callum Brittain after the break.

Barnsley also struck the bar in the closing stages so there is all to play for at the Liberty Stadium where the Tykes are 33/20 to win and 5/2 to make it to the final.

However, Steve Cooper’s side have won all three meetings this season and are available at 7/4 to make it a fourth.

All three victories came without conceding, which is priced at 13/4, and they can be backed at 15/4 to win and under 2.5 goals as they did on each occasion this season.

Swansea were also leading 1-0 at half-time in all three games so they are available at 18/5 to be a goal up at the break or the same price to be ahead after 45 minutes and the final whistle.

Jamal Lowe scored in two of those games and is 9/2 to break the deadlock or 15/8 to score while Ayew is 4/1 to get the ball rolling or 9/5 to find the net.
