PSG v Bayern Munich Betting Tips: Lewandowski to lead Bayern to glory?

Published:

The Champions League final takes place on Sunday night in Lisbon with five-time winners Bayern Munich taking on Paris Saint-Germain for the biggest prize in European club football.

It’s been a Champions League campaign like no other. Despite taking place later than planned, we’ve had some cracking one-legged ties in the quarter-finals and semi-finals and now a winner must be crowned.

The German champions brushed aside a below par Lyon in the semi-final thanks to a brace from Serge Gnabry and a Robert Lewandowski header.

PSG will welcome the opportunity to compete for their first ever Champions League title and with the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in their ranks anything is possible in Portugal.

The Parisians scored three goals without reply against RB Leipzig in the last four and they will want to go all the way in the final against the 2013 winners, Bayern.

Who will be crowned champions? The action kicks off at 20:00 on BT Sport at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon and we’ve got all the pre-match odds, team news and more right here….

Match Odds

Bayern Munch kick off in Lisbon 4/7 to lift the trophy for a sixth time and 21/20 to win the match in normal time having won their last ten Champions League matches.

Could this be PSG’s time to shine? Thomas Tuchel’s side are 9/4 to win the match and 5/4 to be crowned champions. A draw is 29/10 with the French side 12/1 to win the tie in extra-time.

Could we have penalties in Portugal? Germans have a strong pedigree when it comes to holding their nerve in a shootout. Bayern are 16/1 to win on penalties with PSG priced at 20/1.

Both sides have been regular scorers in this season’s competition and both teams to score in the final is 4/11 with over 2.5 match goals the same price.

Talking tactics

The way Bayern dismantled Barcelona in the last eight ought to strike fear into the hearts of the PSG defenders. Not to mention their 7-1 aggregate demolition of Chelsea in the last 16.

However, the Ligue 1 club have a weapon of their own in the shape of Neymar and Mbappe who are both more than capable of taking the final by the scruff of the neck on Sunday night.

Much has been said about Bayern’s tendancy to play with a high defensive line, which could leave space for PSG’s forward to run into. Could the Germans change their shape?

Jerome Boateng is expected to be fit to start the final after being replaced by Niklas Sule in the semi-final Benjamin Pavard will also be pushing for a start at full-back after a late cameo against Lyon.

PSG have a fully-fit Kylian Mbappe and a fresh Angel Di Maria in attack. They have also been handed a couple of injury boosts to give Tuchel a selection headache.

In goal, Keylor Nayas is expected to return in place of Sergio Rico despite the Spaniard keeping a clean sheet last time out.

Idrissa Gana Gueye is expected to be fit to return in midfield with Leandro Paredes the likely player to give way.

Skipper Thiago Silva also got a full match under his belt after a knock and Marco Verratti also came off the bench against Leipzig having been out with a calf problem.

Goalscorer Odds

Plenty of goals are expected in Portugal with the likes of Lewandowski, Neymar and Mbappe on the pitch.

Lewandowski has scored in nine consecutive Champions League bouts and he is 8/13 to score anytime and 3/1 to score two or more.

Serge Gnabry is fast becoming one of the most threatening wingers in world football having scored nine goals in nine games.

The ex-Arsenal man is 5/1 to score first after his match-winning double against Lyon. Thomas Muller is also 5/2 to score anytime at Estadio da Luz.

For PSG, Mpabbe is their main goal threat at 7/5 anytime goalscorer. Neymar is 5/1 to break the deadlock with Di Maria 23/10 to score anytime in the final.

Marquinhos has scored in the last two Champions League matches. The Brazilian defender is 13/2 to find the net again in normal time.
