Failing to win the Champions League was one of Jose Mourinho’s biggest regrets during his first stint as Chelsea and he has been backed to make amends now that his return to Stamford Bridge has been confirmed.

Mourinho has signed for four years and a number of specials have been created to mark the return of the ‘Special One’ to the Premier League.

The fact that he is a fairly big 11/10 to see out all of the his four years will not offer much confidence to Chelsea supporters that he is back for the long haul, but the price is fair in the sense that he has never remained at a single club for this period previously.

Winning the Champions League will surely be Mourinho’s big ambition, although some of the gloss of such an achievement has been slightly removed by Chelsea lifting the trophy under Roberto Di Matteo in 2012.

However, Chelsea have still shortened slightly from 11/1 to 10/1 to win the Champions League next season following the Mourinho news.

Their price to win the Premier League has also come in slightly from 5/2 to 9/4 and they must be serious contenders if Mourinho can avoid conflict and focus on managing the club.

The early signs are that he will be supported with a hefty transfer kitty and this will be a boost, as will David Moyes’ previous record of taking just two points off Mourinho from six meetings between sides with the two managers in opposing dugouts.

One price that is hard to get excited about is Mourinho breaking his own Premier League record of 95 points in his second stint at Chelsea, as the 11/8 for this accomplishment looks particularly stingy.

In terms of next season, it is 10/11 that Chelsea fail to celebrate a trophy, with 11/8 on offer that Mourinho lifts one piece of silverware.

Arguably, 13/2 is the value call that Chelsea win two trophies, with 50/1 on offer that they win three and 1,000/1 for the clean sweep of four.
