Manchester City v PSG Betting Tips: Guardiola troops in driving seat
Manchester City have one foot in their first Champions League final after they secured a 2-1 comeback victory in the first leg in Paris.
Marquinhos put PSG ahead with a powerful header from a corner but a fluke goal from Kevin De Bruyne and a Riyah Mahrez free-kick means it’s advantage City ahead of the game at the Etihad.
PSG are now 10/1 to win the Champions League but they have beaten some of the biggest teams on the planet away from home in this competition so City must be on their guard.
The tie is far from over and we’ve taken a look at Tuesday’s big match in our Manchester City vs PSG betting tips.
A superb second-half comeback at the Parc des Princes means City are 7/10 to get one over the French champions on their home turf but PSG have proved they are a match for anyone on their travels.
A 3-1 win at Manchester United during the group stage was followed by 4-1 and 3-2 victories at Barcelona and Bayern Munich during the knockout phase.
Those last two wins came in the first legs, so they are clearly behind the eight ball, but PSG should not be ruled out from taking another big scalp at 18/5 over 90 minutes.
City’s Champions League record this season has been almost perfect, winning 11 of their 12 matches overall, with the only blemish, if it can be called that, a goalless draw in Porto when they had already qualified.
However, City have won from behind in their last two games and a repeat is available at 7/1.
PSG have also found the net in every away game in this season’s Champions League and although another victory may be asking too much, City to win and both teams to score can be backed at 19/10 while a repeat of the 2-1 scoreline from the first leg is 13/2.
City won 2-0 home and away against Borussia Monchengladbach and then twice beat Dortmund 2-1, so the question is whether they can they maintain their perfect symmetry.
The main talking point is the availability of PSG striker Kylian Mbappe, who missed the weekend win against Lens with a calf injury.
Mauricio Pochettino is already without suspended midfielder Idrissa Gueye, sent off for a poor challenge on Ilkay Gundogan, but he remains “optimistic” Mbappe will be fit to join Neymar in attack.
Mauro Icardi spearheaded the attack on Saturday with Neymar flanked by Julian Draxler and Pablo Sarabia behind the striker but Pochettino is likely to revert to a 4-3-3 if Mbappe makes the starting line-up.
Pep Guardiola was able to make eight changes for Saturday’s 2-0 win at Crystal Palace which saw Sergio Aguero playing behind Gabriel Jesus up front but it remains to be seen whether the City boss will play with a false nine as he did last week.
Marquinhos opened the scoring last Wednesday and was also on target at the weekend, so our traders make the Brazilian centre-back 25/1 to break the deadlock once more and 17/2 to score at any time.
The returning Aguero scored a wonderful goal at Selhurst Park on Saturday and is 5/4 to repeat the trick but De Bruyne seems to be an interesting option.
The Belgium midfielder has scored in all three matches City have played against PSG since their first meeting five years ago and he can be backed at 9/5 to make it four.
Mahrez has struck in back-to-back Champions League games and is 17/10 to work his magic again.
