Manchester City v PSG betting tips and odds

Champions League favourites Manchester City just need a point against PSG on Wednesday night to secure their place in the knockout stage.

City top Group A by one point despite losing 2-0 to the French giants on matchday two courtesy of goals from Idrissa Gueye and Lionel Messi.

Pep Guardiola’s side are 8/13 to avenge that defeat two months ago but the runaway Ligue 1 leaders are 21/5 as we look at some of the markets and odds in our Manchester City v PSG betting tips.

Match Odds

Only Bayern Munich have scored more goals than City’s 15 in this season’s Champions League despite failing to find the net against Mauricio Pochettino’s side in September.

However, a goal fest should perhaps not be expected in the fourth meeting between the clubs this year, all of which produced three or fewer match goals.

Under 3.5 goals is available at 4/7 but there was a winner in each of the two matches last season and this one, so it may pay dividends to look at the ‘both teams markets’ from our #GetAPrice section.

Under 1.5 goals in the first half, two or fewer in the second and either team to win would have paid out in all three of this year’s games and is available at 7/4 in our Manchester City v PSG betting tips.

The home team also led 1-0 at the break on each occasion and that option is 27/10 while it’s 23/20 on City winning the first half against a PSG team that have scored and conceded in six of their seven matches in all competitions

City to win and concede is 15/8, a draw can be backed at 16/5 while a goal in both halves and the points to be shared looks an interesting option at 11/2.

Riyad Mahrez has an excellent record against PSG and is 19/5 to have four or more shots and to score in the second half, bearing in mind two of his three goals against PSG last season came after the break.

Talking Tactics

City are without key midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who missed Sunday’s 3-0 win against Everton having tested positive for Covid while on international duty with Belgium.

Jack Grealish missed the same game with a minor injury and is doubtful to face the likes of Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, all of whom started Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Nantes.

Winger Mahrez came on for the last half an hour at the weekend but is likely to start at the Etihad, along with centre-back Ruben Dias.

Sergio Ramos could be available to make his PSG debut after a spell on the sidelines but gastroenteritis may mean goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma misses out.

Goalscorer Odds

Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Mahrez are all 5/1 co-favourites to get the ball rolling, although the former is viewed as the most likely to get on the scoresheet at 17/10.

Mahrez is 9/5 to score his fourth goal in as many games against PSG and Gundogan is 11/2 and 15/8 in the two markets for our Manchester City v PSG betting tips.

Mbappe and Messi are 6/1 to break the deadlock and 21/10 to find the net, with Neymar 15/2 and 5/2.

Former Everton midfielder Gueye is 22/1 to score the opening goal once again or 7/1 to make it five goals for the season while roving right-back Achraf Hakimi also looks an interesting option at 25/1 and 17/2.
