Burnley v Leeds betting tips: Roses rivals seek first win

Burnley v Leeds preview and odds

Burnley and Leeds both go in search of their first Premier League win of the season at Turf Moor on Sunday.

The Clarets have lost to Brighton and Liverpool in their opening two matches, while Leeds responded to their hammering at rivals Manchester United by fighting back to draw with Everton.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds did the double over Sean Dyche’s team last season and are 6/5 to win again in the Burnley v Leeds betting tips.

Match Odds

Dyche has again struggled to attract new signings in the transfer market and, like last campaign, Burnley have suffered a bad start.

Brighton stunned Burnley with a late turnaround to win their opener 2-1 and, despite a shock victory at Anfield last term, the Clarets were always up against it at Liverpool.

Leeds will need to tighten up at the back after conceding seven goals in their opening two matches, with prices of 2/1 for Burnley to win and 16/5 for a draw with both teams scoring.

The Whites shut out Burnley twice last season though, running riot in a 4-0 win at Turf Moor in May after a 1-0 victory at Elland Road, and are 10/3 to win to nil again.

Leeds to win either half, to score over 1.5 goals in the match and keep a clean sheet is a #GetAPrice special at 11/2.

Despite the amount of goals between these sides already this season, a tight game could be in the offing with under 2.5 priced at 21/20.

Talking Tactics

Dyche will need to find a way to breach Leeds’ defence, like United and Everton had no problems doing, after last season’s double blank.

Former Leeds striker Chris Wood has failed to register against his old club yet and forward Matej Vydra’s injury will limit Dyche’s options, while midfielder Ashley Westwood also has a problem.

Leeds were clinical against Everton but defending continues to be their downfall, with Diego Llorente potentially returning from injury to shore up the backline.

Midfielder Kalvin Phillips made his first start following his exertions for England at Euro 2020 and Rodrigo could be recalled after netting twice at Burnley last term.

Bielsa said: “I have a lot of confidence in the qualities of Rodrigo. I have a lot of hopes for him that in this season he is going to show all the qualities he has.”

Goalscorer Odds

Patrick Bamford has not scored this campaign yet, having netted 17 times in the top flight last season.

The Leeds striker scored the winner from the penalty spot in the Elland Road fixture against Burnley and is 4/1 to bag the opener in Burnley v Leeds betting tips.

Rodrigo is 15/8 anytime after his brace at Turf Moor four months ago with Raphinha 5/2 following his equaliser against Everton.

Wood is 7/5 to break his duck this season against a Whites defence which looked vulnerable at set-pieces last season.
