Brentford v Swansea Betting Tips: Brentford to reach Wembley?

Published:

A place in the Premier League is on the line as Brentford try to overturn a one-goal deficit when they host Swansea City for the second leg of their Championship play-off semi-final.

Andre Ayew was the hero from the first-leg, firing home the winner late on in the second half to score the only goal of the game in what is an evenly poised contest.

Brentford will hope to make home advantage count at Griffin Park as the bid to reach a step closer to the top-flight with a trip to Wembley against Fulham or Cardiff waiting for the winner of the tie.

Which way will it go? The action kicks off at 19:45pm on Sky Sports Football and Main Event and we’ve got all the pre-match odds and info right here…

Match Odds

Despite the Swans leading the tie at the halfway stage, Brentford are the 4/7 favourites to win the match.

Swansea are 19/4 to beat the Bees again with each team 5/6 to qualify for the Championship play-off final.

Brentford finished eleven points better off than the Welsh side, just missing out on automatic promotion, but Steve Cooper’s side are on a roll and have momentum from their end of season form which saw them win their final three games.

If the Bees are to qualify in normal time they will need over 1.5 goals which is 1/4. Swansea managed to keep a clean sheet in the first-leg and they are 9/1 to win to nil.

Extra-time and penalties loom if the teams cannot be separated. A penalty shootout is 13/2.

Talking tactics

Brentford will be buzzing to have Rico Henry available having successfully appealed against his red card from the first-leg.

The left-back has not missed a single league game for the Bees this term, and the 23-year-old will be expected to start after his three-match ban was overturned.

Emiliano Marcondes could come into the starting XI after featuring from the bench last time out.

As for Swansea, Cooper is likely to stick with the side which played last week at the Swansea City Stadium. Kyle Naughton is available after suspension, but Wayne Routledge remains a doubt.

Erwin Mulder will continue in goal, while Ben Wilmot, Joe Rodon and George Byers are all sidelined for the Swans.

Goalscorer Odds

The attacking trio of Ollie WatkinsSaid Benrahma and Bryan Mbeumo will provide the main goal threat for Thomas Frank’s side having bagged 57 league goals between them this season.

Watkins has scored 25 goals this term and is 3/1 to break the deadlock in the final match at Griffin Park. Mbeumo and Benrahma are both 3/2 to score anytime. No goalscorer is 17/2.

Swansea will be hoping Andre Ayew can repeat his man of the match display. The 30-year-old is 13/2 to score first.

Ayew looks set to partner ten-goal Rhian Brewster in attack. The Liverpool loanee is 13/5 to score anytime.
