Brazil v Argentina betting tips: Tite troops favourites for Copa America final

Brazil v Argentina betting tips

Copa America got the final everyone was hoping for as tournament hosts Brazil meet arch enemy Argentina in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Defending champions Brazil booked their spot in the championship match with a 1-0 victory over Peru and they are 21/20 favourites to beat Argentina, who had Emiliano Martinez to thank for saving three spot-kicks during a penalty shoot-out victory against Colombia in the second semi-final.

The gloves are off for one of the biggest rivalries in international football as we look at some of the odds and markets in our Brazil v Argentina betting tips.

Match Odds

Argentina are just one victory away from tying the record with Uruguay for the most Copa America titles but their form in recent finals is woeful.

La Albiceleste have reached the title-deciding game in four of the last six editions and lost on every occasion, including defeats to Brazil in 2004 and 2007.

Three of the finals finished all square after 90 minutes and Argentina can be backed at 21/10 to draw or 3/1 to win in normal time and secure a 15th title while they are 29/20 to lift the trophy.

Lionel Messi Argentina, Brazil v Argentina betting tips

Recent meetings between the nations have been low-scoring affairs with Argentina winning two of the last four matches by a single goal either side of 1-0 and 2-0 victories for Brazil, so under 2.5 goals is available at 1/2.

Tite’s side beat Chile and Peru 1-0 during the knockout stage and they are available at 9/2 to win by that scoreline, 2/1 to nil or 29/20 by under 3.5 goals. Argentina are 15/2 to win 1-0.

At least one team has failed to score in the last five encounters and, with Brazil having only conceded twice in their six matches at this year’s Copa America, that market can be backed at 4/6.

Argentina lost their last two finals against Chile on penalties after both matches finished goalless at the end of extra time and another 0-0 draw is priced at 6/1.

Talking Tactics

Tite has a fantastic set of players at his disposal but is not afraid to make full use of his squad as he showed in the knockout stage.

He deployed a 4-2-3-1 in both games, with Neymar spearheading the attack in the quarter-final against Chile but the PSG attacker played wide left against Peru, with Richarlison up front.

Lucas Paqueta made an immediate impact as a half-time substitute against Chile, scoring the winner a minute into the second half which earned him a starting role in the victory over Peru, and once again he scored the only goal of the game so he is likely to be in the XI at the expense of Roberto Firmino.

Argentina, unbeaten in two years, once again left Sergio Aguero on the bench for the win against Colombia with Lionel Messi and Nicolas Gonzalez playing either side of Lautaro Martinez, who scored the opener.

Goalscorer Odds

Lyon’s attacking midfielder Paqueta has grabbed the only goal of the game in the last two matches and is 17/2 to bag the opener for a third time or 7/2 to get on the scoresheet while Neymar is 7/2 and 7/4 in the equivalent markets in our Brazil v Argentina betting tips.

Argentina striker Martinez has scored in his last three games and is 6/1 to break the deadlock or 14/5 to find the net but Messi is the top scorer at the tournament with four and can backed at 5/1 and 9/4 in the two above options.
