Bournemouth v West Brom betting tips and odds

Two of the Championship favourites meet at the Vitality Stadium on Friday night with new managers at the helm of both clubs in the opening match of the Football League season.

Scott Parker’s Bournemouth, 3/1 to secure promotion, are 13/10 to get off to a winning start against West Brom, now managed by former Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael.

The Baggies, relegated from the Premier League last season, are 6/1 second favourites behind Fulham to finish top of the pile as we look at the latest odds in our Bournemouth v West Brom betting tips.

Match Odds

West Brom have had an excellent pre-season in terms of results, winning three and drawing one of their four matches, keeping clean sheets on each occasion, but they start Friday’s match as 11/5 underdogs with key players Matheus Pereira and Sam Johnstone likely to leave the club.

Neither player will be involved on Friday, nor will the versatile Adam Reach who joined the club on a three-year deal on a free transfer following his exit from Sheffield Wednesday.

Bournemouth have already played their first competitive match, smashing League One side MK Dons 5-0 in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Saturday after which Parker said: “We have an unbelievable group in terms of players who want to improve and get better and that is a really positive sign.”

Interestingly, the home side have won by one goal in the last four meetings between these teams and the Cherries are priced at 11/4 to come out on top by that outcome, while 1-0 or 2-1 victories can be backed at 6/1 and 15/2 respectively.

The Championship was hardly a hot bed in the both teams to score market last season but for what it’s worth the Cherries scored and conceded in the joint highest number of games (25), so that option is available at 4/5 in our Bournemouth v West Brom betting tips.

This looks like a match that could go either way, though, so in our #GetAPrice specials we go 15/8 on both teams to score, over 2.5 goals and either team to win.

David Brooks scored twice against MK Dons and can be backed at 15/2 to find the net in a Cherries win and goals at both ends.

Talking Tactics

Reach was thrilled to join the Baggies and is relishing the chance to play in a high-intensity 3-4-3 formation favoured by Ismael, but the game has come too soon for the ex-Owls player.

Quevin Castro is also out after dislocating his shoulder last week, but new signings Alex Mowatt and Matt Clarke should be available.

Dominic Solanke, Philip Billing, Brooks and new signing Emiliano Marcondes all started Bournemouth’s weekend win in a 4-3-3 system and should be in the mix, but Sam Surridge is unavailable having joined Championship rivals Stoke.

Goalscorer Odds

Brooks is 6/1 to grab the game’s opening goal, as he did on Saturday, and 13/5 to score, but Solanke is the 4/1 and 9/5 favourite in the two markets.

Billing bagged the third goal in the League Cup tie and is 14/5 to get on the scoresheet again, while Christian Saydee, who struck as a second-half substitute, is available at 11/4 to find the net.

West Brom striker Callum Robinson is 6/1 to draw first blood or 9/5 to score, but defender Clarke is 40/1 and 16/1 in the same markets having scored in a 4-0 win against Birmingham in the final pre-season match.
