Blackpool v Lincoln betting tips: Tangerines’ Wembley dream

Published:

Lincoln were the one-time pacesetters of League One but Blackpool came with a late flourish which saw them claim third spot in the table while the Imps finished fifth.

Blackpool got the better of Oxford in the semi-finals and are viewed as 27/20 favourites to do the same against Lincoln.

The Imps edged out Sunderland over two legs and to win at Wembley they are priced at 11/5, with the draw available at 21/10.

It should be an exciting game just like their League One meetings, so let’s look at the odds to help with our Blackpool v Lincoln betting tips.

Match Odds

Michael Appleton took up where Danny Cowley left off by continuing Lincoln’s rise from the National League and is one step away from reaching the second tier of the English game.

Neil Critchley swapped his position of head of Liverpool’s Under-23s side to lead Blackpool to the play-offs and facing Appleton brings together two coaches on the rise.

The last two meetings between the two sides saw Lincoln win 3-2 at Bloomfield Road in October before a 2-2 draw at Sincil Bank in April.

A repeat of the October score, again in Lincoln’s favour, is priced at 40/1, whereas the odds on another 2-2 draw are 14/1.

The both teams to score market has yes at 20/23 and no at 5/6. BTTS and Blackpool to win is 19/5 and Lincoln are available at 11/2. Both teams to score and a draw is valued at 13/4.

For the match to finish 0-0 the odds are 14/1 and a 1-1 scoreline is 24/5, while over 3.5 goals in the match is 29/10.

Talking Tactics

Appleton chose to field a 4-3-3 formation for the semi-final second leg against Sunderland and although the Imps lost 2-1 in that match they were able to prevail 3-2 overall and book their place at Wembley.

Central to Appleton’s thinking for the clash with Blackpool will be midfielder Jorge Grant who leads the Imps’ scoring charts despite missing a penalty in the second leg at the Stadium of Light.

Blackpool triumphed 6-3 on aggregate against Oxford with Critchley going for a 4-4-2 in the second leg at Bloomfield Road which his side drew 3-3.

Leading scorer Jerry Yates was on target in that game and is expected to lead a two-pronged attack at Wembley also featuring Everton loan star Ellis Simms.

Goalscorer Odds

Grant is seen as the most likely to score first of the Lincoln players at 5/1 with team-mates Tom Hopper and Brennan Johnson priced at 11/2 and 6/1 respectively.

Turning to Blackpool, Yates is available at 10/3 to be first goalscorer and Simms is 4/1.

If things are tight Blackpool could look to the experienced Gary Madine who is priced at 5/1 along with Sullay Kaikai.
