Aston Villa v Chelsea betting tips: Top four in Blues’ grasp

Published:

Chelsea are just one win away from guaranteeing Champions League football next season although they will get a second chance in the Porto final should they fail on Sunday.

The Blues moved into third spot with a 2-1 win against Leicester on Tuesday and are a point clear of top-four rivals Liverpool and the Foxes.

Thomas Tuchel’s charges are 1/2 to secure three points but let’s check out some of the other markets for our Aston Villa v Chelsea betting tips.

Match Odds

Chelsea have won 11 of their 18 Premier League matches since Tuchel took charge, 10 of which were by three match goals or fewer and there were seven clean sheets dotted within those victories.

The west Londoners are 27/20 to win and under 3.5 goals or 13/8 to win to nil against a Villa team that beat Tottenham 2-1 on Wednesday night to secure 11th place in the table.

This season, Dean Smith’s side have been much better on the road than at home where they have won just six times and they are 2/1 to lose and score, bearing in mind half of their games at Villa Park have produced goals at both ends.

However, they drew 1-1 at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season and another stalemate is priced at 13/4 and it’s 21/5 on goals at both ends.

Talking Tactics

N’Golo Kante is an injury concern for the Blues having limped out of the win against Leicester after little more than half an hour, complaining of twinges in his hamstring.

The France midfielder was replaced by Mateo Kovacic, who was only supposed to get 20 minutes having just returned to training.

Kante is touch and go like Kai Havertz who missed the Foxes win with a similar injury but Andreas Christensen is back in the squad.

Villa talisman Jack Grealish started the game but finished with an ice pack on his leg having come off in the 73rd minute.

Goalscorer Odds

Timo Werner had another two goals ruled out against Leicester, one for offside and the other for handball, but the German is 4/1 to break the deadlock or 6/4 to score any time.

It was Antonio Rudiger who finally scored a legitimate opener with his first goal of the season and the German defender is 25/1 to repeat his heroics.

Ollie Watkins is finishing the season strongly, scoring the winner at Tottenham on Wednesday, and the Villa striker is 15/2 to open the scoring or 11/4 to find the net any time.

Anwar El Ghazi grabbed the equaliser in the draw at Stamford Bridge and is 17/2 to bag the opener or 3/1 to score his 11th goal of the season.
