A Surrey win and Glamorgan six-fest among T20 Blast best bets

Published:

A place in the showpiece county cricket occasion of the season awaits the eight teams battling it out in the T20 Blast quarter finals.

Here’s the best three bets for the four matches:

Glamorgan to hit more sixes than Lancashire @ 11/10

They may not have the same kind of history in T20 as their opponents – Glamorgan have only qualified out of their group twice before – but the Welsh side have been just as proficient at clearing the ropes this season.

Lancs have cleared the boundary 53 times this season, which betters that of Glamorgan by 10. However, considering new England swashbuckler Jos Buttler won’t be playing and has contributed exactly 10 maximum’s to Lancashire’s cause, take Glamorgan to prevail on a more level playing field.

Surrey to beat Worcestershire @ 1/2

The entire Surrey set up is geared for T20 success and it’s been that way at The Oval for some time. Signings like Tilakaratne Dilshan and Robin Peterson, not to mention Kevin Pietersen, show just how serious the London side were about winning this trophy.

Add to the mix the form of youngsters like Jason Roy and Surrey have easily lived up to their formidable billing. If they can safely negotiate Worcester’s Saeed Ajmal, they should prevail.

Nottinghamshire to beat Hampshire @ 8/11

Both sides have been following a successful recipe in this competition, reaching the quarter finals or better for four consecutive years, but it’s Notts’ big-gun batting lineup that is taken to advance to finals day.

Four of the Outlaws’ lineup have over 250 runs in the competition, with Riki Wessels leading the way with 408. Samit Patel, Alex Hales and James Taylor are all in fine fettle too, so the Trent Bridge outfit should easily deal with Hampshire’s bowling unit, who have four in form men themselves.
