The Carabao Cup quarter-final stage gets underway tonight with two intriguing ties as Brentford host Newcastle and Arsenal welcome Manchester City to the Emirates.

Brentford v Newcastle (17:30, Sky Sports Main Event)
Brentford are a division below their Premier League opponents, but that hasn’t stopped our traders chalking them up as the 13/10 favourites this evening. The Bees boast a wealth of attacking talent and have already disposed of Southampton, West Brom and Fulham in this season’s competition, so Newcastle will hold no fears either.
Magpies boss Steve Bruce has pledged to take the tie seriously, but against the backdrop of a depleted squad and a frantic festive schedule, it’s fair to suggest the Carabao Cup may not take priority. They’re 2/1 to win the tie inside 90 minutes, with the draw priced up at 23/10 in normal time.
Both sides are likely to rotate, which means there could be opportunities for the likes of Marcus Forss. The Bees frontman has eight goals this term, including two in this competition, and is 9/2 to break the deadlock or 15/8 to score anytime, which puts him behind Ivan Toney at 11/10.
Joelinton’s best form has come in the country’s second cup competition, and he’s 14/5 to find the net at any point this evening. If both teams to make changes as expected, that should lead to a traditionally open Carabao Cup tie, with Both Teams to Score priced up at 4/6.
Arsenal v Man City (20:00, Sky Sports Main Event)
Ordinarily this is the sort of Carabao Cup tie which screams goals and unpredictability. But with both Arsenal and Manchester City struggling to find their shooting boots of late, it’s difficult to know what to expect here.
The visitors boast the greater quality and strength-in-depth, and that could be important with both sides likely to freshen things up. City are 4/7 favourites to win their fifth away game in a row in this competition, with Arsenal available at 9/2 and the draw priced at 3/1.
Pep Guardiola is still likely to name a strong side, even with changes, with Kevin De Bruyne one of his intended starters according to reports. The Belgian usually excels against the Gunners and is 9/5 to make it six goals in 14 appearances against the North Londoners.
Raheem Sterling is priced at 6/4 to make it onto the scoresheet, while Mikel Arteta will look towards Alexandre Lacazette to solve his goalscoring problems. The Frenchman is 5/2 second-favourite to find the net for Arsenal, ahead of Eddie Nketiah at 13/5 and Gabriel Martinelli at 14/5.
