Frankie Dettori talks Stradivarius and day one of Glorious Goodwood

Published:

I am really looking forward to the Qatar Goodwood Festival, itis like a second Royal Ascot.

I start the week on Visinari in the Vintage Stakes (2.25). He’s a nice horse and 7f will suit him. It looks a strong renewal and the Godolphin horse, Pinatubo, looks quite strong.

I ride Hay Gaman in the Lennox Stakes (3:00). He is a very consistent horse. He was very unlucky last time, losing his shoe at the start.

He got beaten by agood horse that day of course but he is a very honest and genuine horse whodoesn’t know how to run a bad race.

My big ride of the week is Stradivarius in the Goodwood Cup Stakes (3.35); he is the people’s favourite. You always know what you’re going to get from him and that is a good fight.

They have all turnedup so it is going to be a tough race. It won’t be a walkover for us but hewon’t go down without a fight. I think the biggest threat is the Godolphinhorse; Cross Counter.

Of course, I feel nervous but I am still recovering from Enable.I love that people are still talking about her by the way. It was just anamazing experience.

Regarding Stradivariusthough, it’s only human to feel these nerves, I’m normal. I am feeling veryconfident at the moment though.

After that, I ride Cobra Eye in the European Breeders Fund EBF Maiden Stakes (4.10). He finished second first time up but I have to look at his form in depth.

Roger Charlton booked me a while ago to ride Savaanah in the Fillies’ Handicap (5.15). She is from Prince Faisal, the owner of Coronet. The fact he booked me a while ago says that she must have a good chance.
