Last Day Decider: Peterhead and Clyde in Ladbrokes League 2 title race

Manchester City and Liverpool aren’tthe only two sides slugging it out at the top. In Ladbrokes League 2, Peterheadand Clyde’s battle for the title won’t be decided until the final whistle onthe final day of the season.
The BluesToon hold the advantage at the top. But Stirling Albion’s 93rd minute equaliserat Balmoor last week has left the door open for The Bully Wee. They need allthree points at Cowdenbeath to stand any chance.
If Peterhead pick up all three points at Hampden against Queen’s Park then it’s all over. A draw could let in Clyde providing they win and overturn a five-goal swing. We’re all set for a belting afternoon.
Queen’s Park v Peterhead
Peterhead’s away form will give supporters cause for concern. A 2-1 success at Elgin City a fortnight ago put an end to a three-match winless run away from Balmoor. They’re 2/5 for all three points here.
Rory McAllister is the key man going forward for the visitors. The Blue Toon stalwart has 16 goals to his name this season. In fact the league leaders haven’t tasted defeat in any of the matches he’s scored in.
His presence,alongside that of the in-form Jack Leitch, will be key. Greg Fleming is chargedwith arranging a defensive unit which has shipped just 29 goals this season. Anothershutout should see them over the line.
Queen’s Park won’t go down without a fight. But with nothing to play for and just three home wins in the last six months, they’re unlikely to repeat their 2-0 success over Peterhead from November at 9/2.
Cowdenbeath v Clyde
If Peterheaddo slip-up, then Clyde will be there to pick up the pieces. Danny Lennon’s menhave claimed 22 points out of the last 24 available to hang onto their rival’scoattails. Now it comes down to this.
Like Queen’sPark, Cowdenbeath are no pushovers, though. A recent three-match winning runwas only brought to an end by promotion-chasing Annan Athletic after the BlueBrazil produced a sterling fight back from 3-0 down.
They’ve won one and drawn one of their four matches against Clyde this season. That said, The Bully Wee remain the obvious favourites at 1/3 thanks to superior form and their place in the table.
Ex-Aberdeenman David Goodwillie has rediscovered his goalscoring touch at BroadwoodStadium with 21 goals in all competitions. If he’s on fire – as he has been inrecent weeks –Clyde should prove too strong.
Cowdenbeath don’t tend to score too many goals but are 11/2 to win. What happens, it’s going to be a thrilling afternoon North of the border.
