Tottenham v Man City tips: City to take control of the tie?
Published:It’s an all-English affair in the Champions League quarter-finals tonight, as Tottenham Hotspur welcome Manchester City to their new stadium.
Can Spurs derail City’s quadruple bid in North London? Or will the Premier League champions march on to a 15th straight win (including penalties)?
It’s set up very nicely and you’ll find all the pre-match odds and info right here…
Match Odds
City are 17/20 to take a lead into next week’s second leg. They’re clear 2/9 favourites to qualify for the semi-finals too.
There’ll be a feisty atmosphere in North London, but Spurs are still back at 3/1 on the night. There’s 27/10 about the draw.
Spurs will know they need a result here, with City so strong on their own patch. That means we could be in for plenty of action. We go 12/5 for City and Both Teams to Score, with a 2-1 City win available for 15/2.
Talking Tactics
Spurs will look to make home advantage count, so they could burst out of the blocks in the early stages. They’ll want to unsettle City, without leaving too much space in behind.
Harry Winks could be key for the hosts. He’ll need to help Spurs keep hold of the ball when they do win possession.
City may have a problem at left-back, with Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabian Delph out and Benjamin Mendy not yet fully fit. Pep Guardiola could move Aymeric Laporte across, with Nicolas Otamendi coming in at centre-back.
The City boss will also hope Sergio Aguero is fit to start. As talented as Gabriel Jesus is, he doesn’t have the Argentine’s killer instinct.
Goalscorer Odds
Harry Kane is 13/8 to score his first goal at Spurs’ new home. Christian Eriksen could be one to watch too. He’s netted in both of his last two starts against City. We go 9/2 that he makes it a hat-trick.
